Wow, what a mistake this thread was. Forget it. I didn't make this thread to have to defend what model I choose, what price I paid. There is absolutely nothing stupid about this car or buying one. Keep trying but its pretty much pointless.

WRONG. YOU LOSE. TRY AGAIN.

This car has been out for a couple years in Japan now. It has the same engine that Toyota has always made for inline 4 engines. I am not beta testing anything, but if that helps your learning disability go for it.

Well I for one think it's a neat little car. I'm not sold on the interior but then I again I have yet to sit in one. Check out Yarisworld and post some pics when you get it.

Assuming that's the price he paid (didn't read the entire thread) I have to agree.

I'd rather pay another $2k and get a 2007 Honda Civic LX. Although it's not as fuel efficient it's safe, reliable and has excellent resale value.

However if you're happy with the car and the price you paid, that's what's important.

No, ATOT just doesnt like the Yaris.

ATOT loves Mazda 3, ATOT likes Honda Fit. ATOT ok the Civics. ATOT ok the Versa.

For some reason, the Yaris just doesnt kick it with ATOT. I think its the name. This is a replacement for ECHO. It looks a whole lot better than the Echo, but I wouldn't put my money on it.

I would rather go for the vanilla Mazda 3 if I have to buy new. But of course the OP want gas mileage, the Mazda 3 is not exactly good on gas.

That being said, most people on ATOT just couldn't make sense out of paying $15k for a new commuter car that is quite boring to drive.

You get the package that add ABS, power window, mp3 jack and stuffs...that package cost like $2k. Since the demand is so high so you have to pay close to MSRP.

the yaris is a pos, the interior is cheap feeling, the car loks like ass, its tiny, and o cool, it gets good gas mileage.

let's not forget the only reason its selling is because its a toyota.

the Fit is about 1000 times better, even though it gets less mpg, it has a nicer interior, handles better, better ride, and what not the yaris is crap in comparison.

but, the fit has a 2-3month waiting list.

I said "econobox", not "Yaris." If you're dead set on a Yaris, then yeah, you want to buy new. But when shopping economy cars, it pays to consider TCO.

But don't mind me, I'm a cheap bastard. Every car I've owned was built in the 80's, and the most expensive one was $2100.

there are so many other cars I would have bought for 12k... if you want good gas mileage get a jetta tdi, they get like 40-50mpg and would be less than 12k depending on year.
