Hey...
My friend just took in his Visor Deluxe to Best Buy two days ago to get the screen replaced on it. There response was "go find another one exactly like it on the floor." Well, they don't sell Deluxe's in Best Buy anymore, so He was able to pick up a brand new Visor Neo for the same price. (and not have to pay for it) And then, there is a 25 dollar MIR that pays for the extension of the service plan for another two years...

Just thought those of you who had a Best Buy service plan might wanna think about your Deluxe's "having an accident"

btw: this isn't the HOTTEST in the world, but a good way to work the system.

---

What you are suggesting is criminal fraud. We have decided to work YOU out of OUR system.

Good bye.

Is this a hot deal to break your Handspring Visor.
This borders on fraud.

borders on fraud?
If someone's handspring breaks, this is a legitimate thing. It's just that now the 25 MIR gives you the next replacement for free.
I know a lot of people who wait to use the service plans even if their product has a defect, because they'd have to buy the plan over again...
so for those of you who like to wait to use it...

now it's free to renew it...
that's all

When you post things like "might wanna think about your Deluxe's "having an accident" and "a good way to work the system" you are NOT simply reporting about the service plan. I agree with Zorro that the way you present this borders on fraud. :disgust:

Just like allisolm said, "having an accident" and "a good way to work the system" aren't terms used in a legitimate deal. Dont play dumb and pretend you didnt mean it in any other way. Anyway, yesterdays topic that was extremely similar to yours was locked for a reason. and that was wasnt even proposing the "deal" in scam form.

Best Buy PDA Exended Warranty is a technology warranty too?

ditto on allisolm...to buy the service plan to deliberately upgrade an item is fraudulent as far as I'm concerned. I know it's their policy and if they don't carry the original item to replace it with a similar item (which ususally equates to an upgrade), but to buy the plan to do this specifically, or to trash your slightly outdated unit to do it as well just ain't right IMO. Are we that starved for deals of late?

this is not a fraud.

bb service plan covers it.

for example, when i bought my cell phone from bb last year,
the sales guy sold me on the service plan as well.

normally, i refuse this right out.

but it really seemed like worth the investment.

basically, the guy told me that if anything goes wrong, (lcd, battery, weak reception)
then i can bring in the whole thing, whatever was in the box at the time of purchase,
and i can either replace it for the same model or if the model doesn't exist then, i can get something
in the same price range.

since then, i've replace my phone twice.
i paid 100 for my first one + 60 for service plan.
the second phone that i got was 120.
so i had to dish out an extra 20... to cover the difference.
but the whole process was very smooth,
they didn't even ask why i was getting another one.

the third phone, which i'm using currently, was on sale for 160.
so i paid another 40 for the exchange.
again, no hassle.

i would return the phone more often and upgrade to the newer models.
but i'm really happy with my touchpoint 2200.

once my battery starts to lose its charge, i'm going to take it back and get another 2200... if they have.
:) and if not, a newer model of my choice.

really, the service plan makes my purchase an investment, rather than a purchase.

for 30/year, it's not so bad. :)

ok
if you want to lock this thread fine. Fine with me, it just seems to me to be a good use of what normally is simply an extra 60dollars on the pricetag.
it's not fraud, otherwise, Best Buy (a rather large corporation) would probably not allow it to happen so often.
I know people do this with TV's, DVD Players, etc...

but lock it
thats fine with me.

ps: is it fraud if you PM circuit city with a price that's an error in the machine at Best Buy? cause i've seen those threads on here, and they seem to be the hottest deal, and while this is what i consider playing inside the boundaries of the system, that's straight up abusing error which to me would be closer to fraud

that's just my two cents tho...

oh... i forgot to mention a crucial part of explaining why it's not a fraud.

the sales guy when he was selling the plan...
said... that for whatever reason i am not happy with the phone,
i can bring it back and exchange for another one.

if the same applies to electronics service plan,
then, i don't see why it's a fraud.

i wouldn't recommend people from breaking their visors... though.

If you really don't think it is fraud, you may want to "having an accident" run into a car and then claim insurance or sth. Or even better, buy a fat life insurance package, and then kill yourself.:Q

bb service plans are great. please do not abuse them or else they will stop offering the great service. if you have a real problem then thats fine, but no abuse please.
