NL Wild Card Thread

There are a few scattered threads about baseball and teams in the wild card (like the almost 1000 post Mets thread) but I thought it would be nice to have a NL Wild Card thread, as this is probably one of the tightest races that baseball has ever seen.

Personally, I'm from New York so I'm pulling for the Mets (even though I'm not a Met fan)

Standings as of morning of 9/1

Phillies 71-62 -- 29 left
Astros 70-62 .5 30 left
Marlins 70-63 1.0 29 left
Mets 69-63 1.5 30 left
Nats 69-64 2.0 29 left

I'm rooting for the marlins.

I checked the scores halfway through the marlins game (when it was 5-4 cards) and say that phillie was up like 4-1 and was thinking "sh!t" then finished the marlins game and their great 8th inning. once that game was over i checked phillie scores and found that the mets won. !!!! WOHOO!!! checked up on the wild card and saw it was tied. im loving that.

GO MARLINS!

Anyone but the Astros. No one need to see that pathetic offense in the post season.

But it would be nice to see their staff, and pitching wins playoff games.

Marlins got it wrapped up for sure. Only way in my mind that the Marlins don't win the Wildcard is if Atlanta takes a nosedive.

Phillies or Nats would be nice to see for a change, but nothing against the Marlins or Astros really. I still hate the Mets. The last three WS winners have actually been Wild card teams, so don't think it doesn't matter either.

Astros, I'm sorry, I love Morgan Ensberg, I really do, but Roger Clemens is 11-6 with a 1.51 ERA. WTF?

11-6???? You'd think it would be 11-1....that tells you something about the offense...

I guess that settles it then, huh?

Considering the amount of teams who are contending, it might be smart to take a look at who is playing the best ball since the break.

The stros are a strange team this year. They have 3 guys in the top 10 in ERA, but their other 2 starters are rookies. Then they have essentially 3 rookies in the outfield. I'd love to see them make another run at it because Biggio and Bagwell don't have many chances left.

As opposed to me, who wouldn't care if they disappeared off the face of the Earth.

Speaking of the NL west, if the padres finish below .500 I say we kick them out and take two wildcards.

Funny, I felt the same way about you after reading your response...

Yeah...my primary sports team is LSU and I have to think their schedule is down the tubes. Looking like our first 2-3 hhome games will be played elsewhere and then our SEC scheule begins. So I'm left with the Astros and Philadelphia Eagles .

Oh yeah, so far 2-0 Astros

They'll probably play them anyways since you can't play a team in your division in the first round.

yes so if the phillies, marlins, mets, or nats win wild card they will play the cards and the braves will play nl west
