NJ/PA gun law question

mugs

Lifer
My dad owns some handguns. I have no license to own or carry a handgun. Would it be legal to transport his guns in a locked case in the trunk of my car to Pennsylvania to a target range and shoot them, or would the owner have to be with me?

In VA you only need a license to conceal a handgun. So yes if the laws are the same it would be ok as long as you are 21 or over. Check here for specifics about NJ.

This is not an answerable question. It depends on the mood of a cop that might pull you over and how you look.

In theory it is legal, however, cops rarely have a clue about firearm laws.

Edit: for the record I've done this in FL, AL, and GA without a CCWP.

Generally if the guns are inaccessible (locked box and locked trunk) and unloaded (ammunition in separate area), you should be fine. I don't live in either of those states though... check with the Gun Range or a local lawyer.
