Nitro system for a 2001 V6 mustang - possible? Recommend a different upgrade

So has anyone here ever installed or worked with a nitro system on any car? on a mustang? I'm talking a small system here, just something to play around with. I've never had the thing above 90MPH and don't intend to (on the road anyway), I just want to have a little fun every once in a while.

I'd like to know what is involved and what kind of factors need to be considered. I know it sounds stupid to put one on a non-V8 car but I can't afford to switch to a GT - I'm still a college student.

I'm sure heat and pressure are the 2 biggest factors but do I have to rebuild and upgrade my whole engine to handle it?

One kit I'm looking at: smallest one I could find

I might install it myself or have it done by a local high performance car upgrade shop up the street - they're way more than competent. I've seen some of the stuff they work on. I have done a reasonable amount of work on engines myself, my dad and I have replaced 2 water pumps, done a seal and valve job, etc.

If not a nitrous system, what could I do to bump HP a little?

Other recommendations for upgrades that will actually improve performance or looks significantly?

Make sure you've got good strong welds on your intake manifold, or you'll blow the whole thing to smithereens. Then you'll have to rip the whole block apart and replace the piston rings you fried.

if you don't know that it's nitrous and not nitro...and don't know ****** about it, you're probably just going to kill your engine...like has been said "nitrous doesn't kill engines, idiots with nitrous kill engines"

Eh, I prefer:

There's two types of nitrous users - those who've blown an engine, and those who are going to. :p

Agreed. I am ignorant. I need to know where to look to find information and guides.

And don't waste your time.

If not a nitrous system, what could I do to bump HP a little?

stickers, cheap-ass spoilers and hoodscoops, etc.

I've got a wing, the factory-installed kind. I know it does nothing.

Stickers? nah. I know they look horrible. hoodscoops? don't think that's necessary with a full stock engine.

It seems like air filters and exhaust systems are common upgrades...

If you had it setup right, tuned properly and monitored with a wideband, egt probe, etc you'd probably be ok. I wouldn't do anything higher than a 50hp wet shot on a stock motor though. You're going to want a bottle ALOT bigger than that, get at least a 10 lb.

I'm going to be getting a kit soon to help spool up my turbo since its so laggy. (I have a Holset HX40 w/ 12cm^2 exhaust housing on my 1.8 litre Audi incase anyones wondering, it doesn't hit full boost till around 4500 rpm)

I have one of those. Give it up man... Enjoy the RWD and messing around in the snow. Save your money for your next car.

Well I've read 10+ pages of info on the subject and it doesn't quite seem to be worth it. I think I"m going to stop by that local place and see what they say about it. I know they're honest about giving advice because I've heard them tell other customers that upgrades aren't worth it when it would have made them money to sell it.
