Wow...I was looking at last months Automobile Magazine at my Doctors office and noticed this car sporting the Skyline name. It didn't look like a Skyline, more like the Nissan 240 (which is virtually the same except that the Skyline as we all know is much more then the 240).

Anyway, what I was actually looking at was the new Nissan 250Z, sporting the Skyline name, and a 2.5 liter V6. I can?t remember how much horsepower, I think it said 220? I think that?s interesting, wonder if it?ll be out soon?

It's been available in Japan for the last decade or so. Don't know why they don't bring it out over here. I'd rather have one of those than the new 300Z.

The skyline is the only ricer I would ever buy and am actually wondering it would cost to get it brought over here...and the steering wheel and all that put on the right side......i mean left. :)

Nate - the Skyline can't even be considered a "ricer". That's an insult to such a beast.

no actually, the skyline is available in the us... through an importer named MOTOREX. hehe. maaan i want one. soo bad. they sport a twin turbo inline 6 that puts out a reported 280hp.. but if you know anything about the car, you know it has to have at least a good 350 to do what it does. it runs the quartermile in 13 seconds, and weighs 3000+lbs... 280hp just doesn't push it. not to mention its attessa system. so the car acts like a RWD car so when yur racing around you can do advanced drifts, but as soon as you start oversteering too much, the frontwheels start pulling making it a 4wd car so you don't spin out. so you always look like yur some pro driver with ungodly amounts of control over the car. it also sports the super-hicas steering system, which basically lets you turn like yur on rails (don't feel like typing a paper on the car).

anyway. it kicks BOOTAY!!!!! you can get a used one with some perforance parts added in the mix for 300000. a steal in my book, but this car can't be converted to left hand drive because of the way the turbo's are positioned, the steering wouldn't fit, so you have to drive on the right side. hehehehe!

oh and that car shares almost NO relation to the american 240sx. i'm flattered (being a 240 owner) but there is absolutely no comparison. ^_^

oops forgot to mention that none of the recent skylines (including curent) have a V-6, they all have i-6's. automobile magazine was probably reviewing the version they ship to the UK (duh) so it isn't the nissan monster known as the GTR V-spec (which is the one i was talking about above). they may share many common handling features, but i'm not sure.

also, if it looks more like a nissan 240, it could have been a nissan Silvia (which would make sense as the 3l337 version of the 240 in japan was the Silvia.) it has a 2.2 liter turbocharged i-4. its rear wheel drive, and is also known as a handling monster that can cut through corners faster than a hot knife through butter. mmmm. and as i am a 240 owner, this is the car i aspire to make it compete with. i fully intend on doing a full engine swap with the imported engine as the one in the silvia was never offered in america ( and this makes me want to cry).

Genocide, they may actually bring it over in 2003/4 (R35). Of course, they said the same thing last time with the R34, and I don't see it around. :(

Where's Infiniti's competitor to the NSX??? They have a damn car already, just bring it over. Do whatever they have to do to meet emissions and sell it already!!! GT-R would rip the NSX apart!!! What car on the American road could possibly compete with this sucker?!

The whole reason why the GTR has only 280HP is cause in Japan there's a limit on their domestic cars. And the limit is set strictly to 280HP, if you look at the specs for Japans domestic cars, none goes over 280. So hopefully they'll open the GTR up to where it should be (320-350HP?). But we'll see

I don't think it's a 'written' rule in Japan. It's more of a... informal agreement between the companies. Or at least that's what I've been told. Any information on the exact rule if it is indeed a written rule?

actually, there is no real restriction, it was called the "gentleman" limit. hahahahaha! and now, i wonder if nissans plans on putting a 4.5l v8 in the new skyline will come in under the 280hp limit !!!

psst. not to mention the new nsx engine which is rumored to be a v-12 with vtec. hmmmm... let see, general disregard for the rule now? i would think so.

plus you have to realize that there is also such editions of the skyline as is such as the 440R which has 440 hp and is available through Nismo (nissan's skunkworks type deal). so, contrary to common belief, there really is no HP limit in japan.

fixed misspelling ^_^

<< also, if it looks more like a Nissan 240, it could have been a Nissan Silvia >>

It specifically said ?Skyline? on it. The body looked somewhat like the GTR, but not exactly and that?s why was wondering about it sporting the Skyline name. It said it was the Nissans new 250Z, which will be available in the US. Though it did not state a specific date.

Just put it this way, as an example the GTR looks 270 pounds, this model (250Z) looks as if it was 230 pounds. Not as meaty looking as the GTR.

Yes, I may be wrong about the V6, but I swear that is what it stated, though I will need to check again next week when I go back to my Doctors.

If anyone has this issue please take a look, it has a picture of a Ford Forty Nine on the cover, some futuristic looking car.

Yeah, taking a second look at both cars it's obvious, thanks.
