Road & Track reviews the 350Z in their latest issue. They compare it to a Porsche Boxster S and a Chevy Corvette. They love the 350Z of course, because of its value.

As for me, I'm still waiting for the G35 Coupe and 6-speed to reach the G35 Sedan.

Who won the comparison? I don't feel like buying the issue :D

It wasn't really a strict comparison with rankings or anything. They conclude that for the money, the 350Z can't be beat even though the Porsche Boxster S is slightly faster in the 1/4 mile (they are dead even to 60) and has tighter handling. I can't remember what they said about the Corvette. It's American and not in the running for me ;)

i woudl say fck all of this and give me an AMG SL600

It's either the V12 SL600 or the supercharged V8 SL55 AMG, both of which aren't available stateside yet. I think the SL55 AMG will have roughly ~490 HP when it's released. Very fast

Okay, I have the magazine in front of me this time. R&T's 0-60 for the 350Z is 5.6, 1/4 mile is 14.3, top speed is an est. 155mph, skidpad is 0.89g, slalom is 65.6mph, and brake rating is "very good."

Here's what they say regarding the Porsche Boxster S and Chevy Corvette 50th Anniversary:

We're comparing the 350Z to a Vette? Yes-the wheelbase and weights are nearly identical-but the Chevy's brash 350-bhp V-8 gives it a 0.7-second advantage to 60 mph. Porsche's mid-engine roadster matches the Z's 0-60, but pulls harder in the quarter mile and delivers better steerting feel. It's certainly hard to overlook the Nissan's value.

List prices for the three:

Chevy Corvette 50th Anniversary - $48,000
Porsche Boxster S - $51,600
Nissan 350Z - $34,079 (list price for "track" model tested/$34,619 price as tested)

nice!

on a slightly related note there was a used G35 sitting in south point nissan's parking lot... that was a sweet car. i was looking at the 2001 max SE, but that G35 would be a "good student car" as we like to say.

and on a bit more unrelated note i saw not one but 2 Z06s this weekend. now thats a ride.

call me crazy but why would anyone spend more to get the track version? I mean the Base model is impressive enough.
the only things I find useful is the LSD, lite-weight wheel, and Brembo brakes, but do those justify 8k?

Yeah but whatever it's still a great car and I hope it becomes a great success so I can buy one in 5 years when I have enough money.....
