Hey guys and gals,

So, recently my gf car has been having some trouble. 2011 Nissan Versa 4 door Hatchback 1.8L. One night her car decides to die at school, so I went to go jump the car and it worked with a micro-jumper. Later on in the week it decides to die again and this time, it won't jump. Her dad has been working on the car and he replaced the starter(duralast Part Number: 17982 from autozone) and the battery. He said he connected all the cables correctly, but when he went ahead to turn the engine over, it clicks but no crank. I tried messing with it as well, but no luck. I checked out the fuses and cables and everything seems to be okay. I also took the starter back to autozone to test it and it passed all 3 tests. I saw a post to reset the key alarm and nothing. I tried looking for answers, but none seems to work.Any suggestions?

are the contacts on the starter clean and tight?

does the immobilizer light shut off when you turn the key over?

Single click or rapid clicking? Verify that the battery connections are clean and tight - sounds like inadequate current to the starter.

the battery connection is firm on. made sure that there is no gap from the connection to the battery. its a single click once you turn the key.

also the immobilizer light doesnt come on. i was thinking that a wire somewhere probably got pulled or a sensor might be loose when the dad was working on it.

Could be a bad starter. Or battery. Or ground. Or problem with a relay or in the ignition system. Or could be an accessory like the A/C compressor locked up not allowing the crank to turn. Could be a locked up engine.

Test the battery. If good, remove the drive belt. If it cranks, spin pulleys until you find what wont turn. If it doesn't crank, measure power and ground to the starter solenoid. If it doesn't crank step 2- attempt to turn the crankshaft by hand tool- if you can't turn it with the belt off, engine is done. If you have good power and ground, replace the starter. If it doesn't, trace the wiring back until you find a fault in the circuit. If those steps are confusing, pay someone to do it for you.

It could simply be something draining the battery rapidly.

Try to jump start it with jumper cables instead of a jumper pack.
