Don't Call It a Datsun: Nissan to Launch Tiida Compact in U.S. Next Year

Because small cars from Japan are getting hotter in the U.S., Nissan is moving up its launch of the Tiida to the second half of next year, filling out the space beneath Sentra.

It's been an open secret for some time now that Nissan wanted to do a new small U.S. car that's based on its domestic B platform. While speculation so far has centered on the Cube, a boxy tall wagon, coming to the U.S., Nissan will be testing the Gen X and Y waters with the Tiida long before that. The next-generation Cube is on track for the U.S., but with sales of the first cult edition still strong, Nissan's in no hurry to rush through a replacement....

I like it 🙂

At least more than that Cube concept that's been all over the car mags...

[Edit] Heads up: The Nissan production model of a car called "TIIDA" in Japan is far less sexy - Link

It's too bad that pic is older than the unveiling of the Sports Concept. You picked some picture of a current production Tiida and posted it here as a factual representation of what the US version will look like.

Of course everyone else believed that you must know what you are talking about, so they failed to follow your link and discover that the picture was posted on that site in October 2004.

Uh. the Cube isn't a concept vehicle -- they are all over the roads in Japan and have been for a couple years. To me, they look better than the xB from Toyota...uh, Scion. I've been wondering why Nissan hasn't introduced them to the States.
