It has only crank windows in the rear.

I paid $5k for a 2002 two years ago, private party, so even in CAD, those prices are a bit high.

But seriously, the neon is a good car. The sentra is an unreliable POS. The new neon is actually quite reliable if it was maintained well.

Actually, my friend's dad drives over 500 kilometers everyday in his neon. His last neon had over 900,000 kilometers, and was still running perfectly. Only problem with it was it got hit by a deer (along the side).

neon's are POS, for the reason that they are just not very safe to drive in. Some guy on the news who works for the state and investigates car accidents said that neon's have to be some of the least safest cars he's seen, with the most fatal crash victims.

not to mention that but ive sat in neons before, and everything inside them just LOOKS CHEAP. (even the newer ones) Nissan makes good cars though.

This is quite true. The neon is as close to a rolling deathtrap as you can find.

I think you are like me- looking to score a nice car for under $6000. Personally I'm going to test drive a 2003 Ford Focus ZX2 tomorrow, private seller asking price is $6000 w/ 87k miles. Consumer Reports gave it a "Safe Bet" award, and all reviews I've seen have been glowing. Sporty and economical, exactly what I'm looking for.

My price is right bellow Blue Book value. The car is rated 4/5 for driver safety.

Blue Book Value: $7175 to $7675. US dollars.
My price is significantly bellow the Blue Book value but the car has high mileage. The car is rated 4/5 for driver safety.

We went out today and came home with a new (to us) car.

Two cars got our attention today, a Hyundai Elentra 2002 and a 2003 Grand Am.

2002 Hyundai Elentra VE, 44K Miles, (71K KM) my price $8500 plus taxes
Blue Book Value: $7375 to $8400. US dollars.
My price is slightly above the Blue Book value. The car is rated 4/5 for driver safety.

2003 Pontiac Grand Am, 38K Miles, (62K KM) my price $8795 plus taxes
Blue Book Value: $9000 to $10700. US dollars.
My price is right bellow the Blue Book value. The car is rated 4/5 for driver safety.

We test drove both cars and decided on the Grand Am for the following reasons: Low mileage, newer year, comfortable ride, sporty look, fair acceleration, excellent sound system, parts readily available and my wife liked it (most important). In the end we decided to spend more money and get a car that will last us longer and that should be reliable for the next few years. I think we got the car for a fair market value compared to everything else we looked at.
And here is the winner: Pontiac Grand Am 2003
