I'm in the market for a full size van, I keep coming back to the new Nissan NV Passenger. I have a family of nine, no current towing needs. Currently in DFW area. And reason why I shouldn't get it, any recommendations for specific options, engine size, etc?

I'd probably opt for the V8 if you're going to haul 9 people (and their stuff) on a regular basis, although last year's non-passenger model only got like 14 MPG average:

I've seen these driving around and they look pretty good. I'd almost recommend a Sprinter passenger van, but the NV is like $10k less starting and the Sprinter rusts like crazy. Although it was great to drive, had one at a prior job and it was nearly as easy to drive as a car, surprisingly.

^ I dont think anything that hauls 9 people has any business with high MPGs lol

0-60 in 8.4 sec with the V8 isnt bad at all.

He's in TX so no rust to worry about. Sprinter would be nice but I doubt its terribly fast with the oil burner.

I'd probably go for the Sprinter.

As much as I'm a Ford guy the Econoline is a million years old and I wouldn't even bother with it.

Go for Sprinter. There is a reason why they are used as route-taxies in Belarus. They are bulletproof.

Base engine would do just fine as it's a van, no need to race it.

Prior to next year they only have one engine in the US, 3.0 L CRD. For 2014 I believe the base engine is a 2.x L diesel of some variety

Econolines are gone now. We've had the Transit Connect (windstar/aerostar mini fan sized replacement) and now we get the full size Transits that are repalacing the Econoline. The new Transit Connect Wagon will be available in a long wheel base style with 7 person capacity. Transit Wagon is available in multiple wheel bases, up to 15 passenger (E-350 Econoline) sizes.

Yeah I have looked at the Sprinter too, and read about upcoming Ford models. Decisions, decisions. Thanks for your input!
