nice! make a sweet car even sweeter. all these interior changes would definately make it more of a competitor with the G35C in terms of comfort

No way. You can't replace 11in of wheelbase with interior improvements when it comes to ride quality.

they added a couple of cushions and made a console door sturdier - and that's going to somehow transform the car to be a competitor with it's luxury-sport brother?

I kind of assumed that both were built on the same chassis - is that not the case?

I think the 350z is already a fine competitor. It can be had for $27k out the door with 287 horsepower. Meanwhile the G35C ~$8k more. Better car, but way more money. 350z is surely better bang for buck from a performance perspective.

Same platform, but the Z just uses a shorter version

You're just jealous :) But it does make sense not to buy the first model year of a new car. I hear that the 2004 maxima is having numerous quality issues. Maybe that's just nissan's quality slipping, but I think you'll see similar in other automakers as well.

Yes, I laugh equally at all new car beta testers. I'm not prejudiced.

Anyway, really nothing to be upset about, if you (the buyer) drove the car, and liked it and bought it for that reason you should be happy. If, however, you ordered it sight-unseen because you wanted the latest and greatest thing... well, too bad for you if now they fixed a bunch of stuff that bothers you. :)

Well a lot of crap may break but not on the test drive :) Some guy at the maxima forums is on his second 04 max because they just ended up replacing his lemon one. Another guy has taken his in 5 times for the same issue and wants a replacement. Sounds pretty lame :) Those with functional maximas though are very happy with them.

"2004 models also benefit from Nissan?s decision to adopt a Euro-tuned suspension setup for all 350Zs,"

I wonder if this will address the chronic tire-feathering problem that owner have complained about.

I guess this proves the old axiom of never buying the first model year.

well i never considered buying either one since i have a car already. but whenever i see people deciding between the 350Z and the G35C, i hear them complaining that they like the 350Z a lot but dont wanna get it cuz of its cheap lookin interior. well now with the improvements, the 350Z is "catching up" with its luxurious brother it would seem....wouldnt it?
i mean yea...they are different cars...one is a 2 seater...the other is a luxurious coupe. but the little improvements bring the two cars closer together IMO

Now why did I say wait awhile on the F150 and the Mazda 3 ;)
I won't touch the Ford, but I can't help but wonder if other import manufacturers (like toyota/honda) have as many TSBs as nissan? There are quite a lot and I won't pretend that nissan quality is as high. Perhaps the new Mazda 3 wouldn't be a bad buy...?

To be expected from a lowend sports car.
