Don't know if this has been covered before......Nissan has a line of parts they call "Key Value". I know you can get "Key Value" front pads and clutch kits and probably other parts. Typically they cost 25% less than the OEM parts.

Now here's the rub....they are not as good as stock parts. Here's proof: When you get warranty repairs, the Nissan service people cannot use these "Key Value" parts. They must use the more expensive OEM parts.

Key value front pads don't last as long, have more brake dust problems, and are more prone to noise(brake squeeks) than OEM pads. So as far as I'm concerned, avoid it if it says "Key Value".

I wouldn't use key value.....as far as breaks get a good set of Rockhill's or some other major name brande. You have to aby your vehicle if you want it to stay reliable.
Put on crappy "Value" parts===push your nissan....=not good

I don't think anybody "deserves" to crash. If you call a Nissan dealer for a price on a brake job, you'll get quoted a price which probably includes "Key Value" pads. Hopefully they'll also suggest you get the better (more expensive) pad. Many people will go for the best price.....

Put on your own break pads. It doesn't take a rocket scientist.
Instead of paying 20+ an hour for labor, I do the job myself, besides I know what I Did to my vehicle that way....

I bet the cheaper pads are more organic than metalic. I bet they're less likely to squeek fo that reason. Another plus would be less wear to the rotor. On the negative side, they would heat up faster and have that dust problem. I'd sure like to know how thet could be dangerous! What's gonna happen, the pads going to melt off the backing plate or what?

I prefer real OEM parts most of the time. Unless there is a way of coming out with a good upgrade.

Flame away :)

The fact that what you drive is probably inferior to most Nissan vehicles is all the punishment you need.

Silly us for liking a company who has had the best V6 engine for how many years running? With nice styling, nice options, and good reliability?

We are so lost without people like you around telling us to avoid quality auto-makers.

Quick lets all run out and buy a Ford!!!!

Most car places will stick in cheaper parts for when they do a repair. If the cheaper part doesn't fit in then they'll order the original part from the manufactor. This is how it is done for them to make more money. But they ONLY do this if the cheaper part doesn't fit properly.

Not illegal as the part is designed to specs but it doesn't fit all the time as the cars do change over time with wear and tear. And also these are cars that have been in crashes......

Dad use to work in a garage. We changed brake pads last week also in bros car. Easy if you don't mind getting your hands dirty. I'd be crazy if I'm going to pay someone to fix something we can do ourselves if we have time.
