No way anyone who needs a truck is going to buy a Japanese offering. And most people, at least around here, buy a truck, because they need a truck.

They also tend to be a bit younger, less "blue-collar," more affluent and better educated than Ford, GM, and Dodge loyalists, Nissan representatives said.
Hahaha Sell your newest truck by insulting half the truck buyers. :p

Dunno... I live in truck country too... I'm seeing more and more Tundra's out than ever -- even for farm use and contractors.

Dana 44? That's low end for Jeeps.

The Tundra and Titan are okayish for competing with half tons, but they'll never be able to compete with what I consider "real trucks" (8000+LB GVWR). Once you've yanked around 9000LBs like it isn't even a problem, you'll never want to back down.

Well, the '05 Tundra is gonna come out fighting with both half ton and heavy duty models. We'll just have to see how well that goes over.

Also, when it comes to compact trucks (Ranger, S-10, Frontier, Tacoma), the Tacoma and Frontier are the only two viable vehicles IMHO.

We can speculate all we want, but we really won't know if this thing will fly until we start seeing some sales numbers.
At least Nissan has built a decent (if not perfect) truck to try and enter this market with.

I think it's a decent truck... Nissan builds a mean engine so I am sure the truck will be good. whether or not people driving one of the big 3 will buy this thing, is the main problem.. I'd still take my RAM over this truck for now.

Last time I checked, the Dakota was a mid-sized pickup in the same class as a Ford Explorer Sport Trac and the upcoming Colorado.
