Nissan guys, is this a user replaceable part?

I have a 1997 Nissan Maxima SE. I bought it used and I think the guy who had it befor eme tried to put some type of superbright non stock headlight bulbs in them. And in the process, I think he burnt out the wire harness that connects to the back fo the headlight bulb on the drivers side. It worked fine for quite a while, then the light didn't work all the time, and I had to go under the hood and move it around to get it to work. Now it has stopped working all together.

I am just wondering if this is a part I can get at an auto parts store, or if i will have to take it in somewhere(nissan itself?)to get it replaced. I called a local auto parts store, they said they didn't have any, but couldn't tell me if it was user replaceable or not.

Thanks

I went ahead and took some pics of the part. Let me know if these links work.

4 of the pictures are of the broken one, the fifth is of the one from the passengers side which is still good.

First pic is screwed up, so only 4

you can buy replacement 9004 sockets from autozone or kragen, look in their fuse section. just make sure you splice the 3 wires properly. hopefully thats all you need to replace, otherwise it get more difficult

Ya - you can replace it... probably a Nissan only part though. Just ask for a replacement headlamp harness. I'm sure the price is going to be $$...

Or do what he said - it's a cheaper solution, just requires some fiddling.

Hmm, well the guy at autozone or maybe it was advanced said they didn't have them, but then again he didn't take the time to go out and look at the part, only used my description. I will take another look at other places. Thanks.

Also njmodi, I orginally assumed I would have to go to nissan for it, but as maximus pointed out, and I already knew, just forgot, it is a standard 9004 socket, so many cars uses the same one, so I don't see why it wouldn't be readily available.

Also, thanks to maximus reminding me of it being 9004, I just did a search for 9004 healight harness and I can buy them online, so there is at least that, if I can't find them locally, thanks.
