It would be a lot cooler if it were coming back in the US market.

We need a 240z remake.

The thing is, it's been ~30 yrs since they were called Datsuns here in the US and now, few remember that. I use to work on them back in the early 80s.

That orange car in the link looks nice. This is only emerging markets though but like another above simple throwing on a new badge would not impact me anyway.

I think it'd be odd for a modern day car to have such a long front end on it like that. Back then, the Z cars needed that because they used inline 6 cyl engines which are now almost extinct.

If only a relaunched Datsun like that would have a modern i6...

But it could have an I4 or V6 set way back for awesome weight distribution. Plus a nice big crumple zone, space for wishbones instead of struts, and lots of room to work.

I worked on Datsun starting in 1977 for 10 years as a dealer tech. They were fantastic cars for dependability because they were very simple. Many of thier parts worked across the whole line and they didnt come out with all new models every 2 years and parts were avaliable for eons. The Nissan that built those cars is not the same Nissan of today and there will never be another Datsun as dependable as those at 15x the price.

Never heard a car described as generous before. Doesn't sound like we'll be seeing anything sporty under that brand though. Sounds like it will be econoboxes for the developing world. Kind of a shame when you consider the cars previously produced under that badge.

Had an old 510 good times. There's an old lady in my town driving a great condition 510 wagon. I want GTA it from her.

datsun should come back to the us with a 3 liter straight six powering a small car 240z weight and size and a pickup and wagon using same engine. Maybe a shoe car competitor wagon.

If you guys look in the wrench thread you can see the 510 we are building.

I'm surprised because the Datsun nameplate always had a negative feeling around it. Even my farther and uncle owned original '70 (I believe that was first year) 240Z's in the racing green. Even though they loved the cars, there where a lot of reliability issues when they launched.

the datsun name will only be used in places where it hadn't been used before. places in which nissan doesn't want to dilute it's major brand name.
