Nissan blames jewelry for Mississippi assembly line problems

Nissan blames jewelry for Mississippi assembly line problems

Puzzled Nissan Motor Co. engineers inspecting the company's $1.4 billion Mississippi plant traced vehicle paint flaws and scratches to the watches, wedding rings, belt buckles and bracelets that assembly line workers were wearing on the job.

Consumer gripes about vehicles made at the Canton, Miss. factory included wind noise, vibrating brake pedals and paint blemishes.

Well, @ least they figured out the paint blemishes.

I'll bet the workers in Japan wear uniforms/coveralls, or perhaps they assemble the autos naked😱

The wife and I drove by the construction site of that plant on our way down to New Orleans a couple of years ago.

It's like a city, freakin huge.

I think prohibiting wearing any type of jewelry should probably be a standard rule where you'll be working on a production line.

Who needs to wear bangle bracelets while putting doors on a car? Is the assembly line some kind of "meat/meet" market or something??

Wonder how it compares to the Rouge Complex here in Dearborn?

I wonder why they didn't have any rules in the first place to prevent this. Toyota's assembly plants (in Japan and here in the US) don't allow any jewelry or any clothing that have buckles, etc (no jeans).
