Nirvana - Smells Like Team Spirit

Ok the name is "teen" spirit obviously but when you search on youtube, all it suggests is "smells like team spirit." All like 10 choices are "team" and there's nothing about teen. And even when you search "smells like team spirit" nothing comes up but the actual song. What is going on? Is youtube purposely censoring something?

Yes, it's all a part of a new initiative set by the new administration to protect our children and foster better cooperation between musicians and teens.

Umm to op, you don't think that it could be that they umm just think it's team and not teen??? Happens all the times with songs. People do mistake words for other words.

i always thought it was team spirit. i guess i stand corrected.

teen spirit doesnt make any sense...

I always figured it was teen spirit as the lyrics suggest teen angst/revolution/etc.,

i always figured team considering it's a grunge band...right? = sweat/blood/funk... teams compete in sports and get injuries/sweat/blood/funk...right?

i never actually paid attention to the lyrics, i thought it was just about er..."taking the piss"? of people who congregate in groups.

It's suggesting team because they probably get about 10,000 times more queries for "team spirit" than "teen spirit"

Smells Like Teen Spirit - like another said, Teen Spirit was a popular young womens' deodorant back then - might still be now since I don't pay much attention to the ladies deodorants as I'm walking over to grab my Old Spice. /SWAGGER

I just put "smells like teen spirit" into google and the first 2 hits were youtube videos with the name spelled properly....

Oh and as for the name, might as well give the wikiexplanation:

"Cobain came up with the song's title when his friend Kathleen Hanna, at the time the lead singer of the Riot Grrrl punk band Bikini Kill, spray painted "Kurt Smells Like Teen Spirit" on his wall. Since they had been discussing anarchism, punk rock, and similar topics, Cobain interpreted the slogan as having a revolutionary meaning. What Hanna actually meant, however, was that Cobain smelled like the deodorant Teen Spirit, which his then-girlfriend Tobi Vail wore. Cobain later claimed that he was unaware that it was a brand of deodorant until months after the single was released.[9]"

It's hard to mawb zozzle ouf

On a side note, Kurt Cobain is quoted as saying something along the lines of knowing they were really famous when Weird Al parodied them.

I think I actually prefer the Weird Al version, since I completely agreed with the sentiment. 🙂
