But you know, every system is the same way. No one can honestly say they constantly play the same console for, hell, even a year straight. There has never been a system where there were enough good games spread out throughout a year that it was constantly played.
I have to disagree with you on this point. Times have changed, now that there is XBL, I can see myself playing Gears, and a couple others, multiplayer, for a long time to come.

I definitely see where you're coming from with this, but I would think that there are also plenty of people who aren't patient and persistent enough to get to that level where you want to compete in multiplayer for that long. Anyone familiar with Counter-Strike's online community would be a fool to completely deny your point, but I think there are many that do not have that level of dedication.

But perhaps I'm just speaking for myself since I'm so terrible at console FPS online that my Gears of War Kill : Death ratio is around 1:15. And at least half of my deaths are at the hands of AT's mad0maxx. 😛

current Halo 2 stats...

Players Online:
24,087
Unique Players (Last 24 Hours):
236,546
Matches Logged (Last 24 Hours):
593,569

That's a 3 year old game, so I'm going to have to disagree with you 🙂

I believe Sraaz overstated his point by saying "No one can honestly say they constantly play the same console for, hell, even a year straight."

It's not a surprise that a lot of people still play Halo 2. I don't see how showing statistics from the outlier that is by far most popular game on the entire service entirely refutes my point that "there are also plenty of people who aren't patient and persistent enough to get to that level where you want to compete in multiplayer for that long." I already cited an exception to my belief in Counter-Strike, if you want to add Halo 2 under that umbrella, you're welcome to do so.

Finding exceptions to my speculation doesn't mean that's necessarily the rule amongst all/most/the majority of/many xbox live gamers. My original purpose of posting in response to DAPUNISHER is that while multiplayer does add replay value, many people are not going to be satisfied playing the same game for years or even months on end. I believe that for all the Counter-Strike, Halo, or WoWs addicts there are more gamers that would prefer a variety, whatever their reasoning may be.

Mine is that I suck at many competitive multiplayer games. 😛 Give me co-op any day.

i'm going to have to disagree with you on this. i got a xbox the first day it came out. i still play it more than my wii and computer. i just created a character in KOTOR2 and that has taken up all of my video game time. the games for the original xbox are just so much better IMHO than the wii's games and i have a severe dislike of sony so they don't get my money.

CKDragon, Call of duty 3 should be called Call of Duty 2, 2. CoD 4 is a completely different game. If it did come out on the wii it would suck.

This means the PS3 has actually made more profit than the Wii, assuming Sony wasnt loosing money with each of them in the first place of course

I've kept this tab open in my browser for the last two hours just for this quote. I keep periodically returning to read it in an attempt to figure out how one could come to that conclusion.

A few minutes ago blood started coming out of my ears.

When from behind me, a woman of 25 uttered the dumbest thing I'd ever heard in my life ... She said, 'If it weren?t for my horse, I wouldn?t have spent that year in college.' I'll repeat that. I'll repeat that because that's the kind of sentence that when you hear it, your brain comes to a screeching halt. And the left hand side of the brain looks at the right hand side and goes, 'It's dark in here, and we may die.' She said, 'If it weren't for my horse...' as in, giddy up, giddy up, let's go - 'I wouldn't have spent that year in college,' a degree-granting institution. Don't! Don't think about that sentence for more than three minutes, or blood'll shoot out your nose. The American medical profession doesn't know why we get an aneurysm. It's when a blood vessel bursts in our head for no apparent reason. There's a reason. You're at the mall one day, and somebody over there says the dumbest thing you've ever heard and it goes in your ear. So you turn around to see if your friends heard it, cause if your friends heard it, and you can talk about what the jackass said, then it'll be gone. But your friends are over here, pretending they're gonna buy a cellular phone, and they're not gonna buy a cellular phone, because they don't even understand how the rate structure works. So you turn back, to find the person who said it, because if you can ask 'em a question like, 'WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKIN' ABOUT?!' then it'll go away. But they're gone. And now those words are in your head. And those words don't go away. Cause the way I see it, 7% of our brains functions all the time, because 99% of everything that happens is the same old stuff. We get it. All right. Move on. Get it. Right. But every so often, somethin' like that happens: 'If it weren't for my horse, I wouldn't have spent that year in college.' So your brain goes, 'LET'S FIGURE IT OUT! Son of a bitch! I wonder what that's about!' I wonder, was she riding the horse to school? No, she wouldn't be riding the horse to school. Maybe it was a polo pony; she had a polo pony scholarship. Maybe she sold the horse and that's how she - she was betting on the horse! WHAT THE FUCK?!! And then you realize that anybody who went to college would never say anything that stupid in public. And as soon as you have that thought, your eyes close and the next morning they find you dead in your bathroom.

This is my favorite bit from that special! Kudos!

right now the production is not much less then the PS3, or Xbox 360

Less than? If Microsoft and Sony are building their systems faster than Nintendo, they must have some big warehouses to store them in.

to me, the Wii "winning" the war doesn't' make a difference, as I still don't think the Wii is competing too directly in sales with the PS3/360.

Maybe I'm an oddball out, but I dont' know 1 person that got a Wii instead of a PS3 or XBOX 360. The only people I know with a Wii are either

1) still planning on getting one of the other systems,
2) already has one of the other systems, or
3) was never intending on getting anything but got the Wii because it is geared towards non gamers more.

I've owned consoles since they were invented. Wii is the only modern console I've ever considered buying. I'm a fairly avid gamer. I know many, MANY people who feel exactly the same.

Of course, these are merely anecdotal and I agree that the Wii isn't the same kind of system. In the first place it's reasonably priced. In the second, it chooses to be just a game console (for the most part).

heh..i bought my ps3 for $200 (sonycard rewards redemption form) muahhahaha!!!! 😛

I have a Wii-PS3. my roommie has a 360. We have very similar desktop setups (http://pics.bbzzdd.com/users/DanTMWTMP/CIMG5794.JPG), so we can swap rooms for a night if we want to play one or the other.

I was planning to get all three from the start anyways hehe 😛.
