Nintendo Wii Issues

For Christmas I got a refurbished Nintendo Wii along with a Nyko Quad Charger along with four Nyko Wand+'s (their version of the Motion Plus).

Everything was going great until we tried to sync up the fourth remote. With four fully charged battery packs we were not having any luck with getting the fourth one working. Thinking that one might be defective, we went ahead and did a hard sync reset on the system, then started with the suspected remote. That one synced up just fine, then the other two did as well. The last remote would not pair up. So now we're thinking that the console might be defective. We called up Gamestop and they had another one ready for us to exchange. We get home, set it up and the same thing happens.

Then we're thinking that it's the sensor bar, as we only exchanged the unit and not the cables and sensor bar from the original. So I go out and get the wireless sensor bar, because I can't seem to find anyone carrying the wired kind where I live and I'm impatient to get this fixed. I come home and set it up and the same thing happens.

So after doing some more research on the Internet I came across something about the rechargeable battery packs might be interfering with the signal to the console, causing some remotes to lose its pairing with the unit. So, thinking this could be the cause I pull out 8 fresh batteries and put them into the Wiimotes. The same thing is happening here too. Now, I did pick up Wii Sports Resort so I decide to try to substitute one of the Nyko wands for the original. I put in two AA batteries into the original remote and it paired up with my system. Thinking now that this is the cause I put the induction charged battery packs into the three Wands and the fourth into the original remote. Can't sync up the fourth remote again.

Now I'm in a dilemma. I know I'm going to return something, but I may not be 100% sure that the battery packs are causing the issue. So here are my options as I see them;
1) Should I go out and get 4 Nintendo remotes with the Motion Plus incorporated, put the IC battery packs in and see if they work?
2) Should I return the Nyko Charging base, get a different manufacturer charging base, and see if that's the issue?
3) Seeing as how two refurbed units are having the same issue, is it worth it to return the refurb and get a brand new unit? I've updated the software on both units.

My only guess is that you have two Nyko wands that use the exact same bluetooth pairing, so when one is active, the Wii won't recognize the other one. Maybe one of the bluetooth experts here can chime in.

Did you try resyncing using the Nintendo Wiimote and several different combinations of the Nyko Wands?

Just FYI, the sensor bar is nothing more than a source of infrared for the Wiimotes to reference. People have successfully substituted two candles for the sensor bar.

Personally I use low self-discharge nimh AAs and a regular nimh charger. And first party new consoles and controllers. Buy these when they're on sale and it doesn't cost more than refurbs and junk.

But, I doubt your batteries are the problem. I would take the console to Gamestop and see if they can get 4 remotes working with it. If they can it's probably your Nyko controllers are defective.

Thanks for everyone chiming in here.
Turns out that the Nyko remotes were the problem. I went out and purchased 4 new Nintendo remotes and they synched perfectly with the Nyko charged batteries. The four Nyko remotes are on their way back to Amazon. And the wireless sensor bar is going back to Gamestop as well.

Wow, I didn't know that two candles could replace the sensor bar. Pretty cool thing to try one night.
