Ya know, with the exception of the lack of online ability and a hard drive, I thought that the Gamecube was a nice piece of hardware. The gaming titles were lacking though. Especially at launch. No Metroid and no Mario at launch killed them. Even when a Mario game did come out it didn't live up to the hype. Eventually, the only title they had that I was interested in was the MarioKart racing game. But it wasn't worth buy the Cube just for that.

Hopefully, Nintendo will finally learn something from it's last two disappointments.

- Secure some non-EA sports titles
- Get a real A-List racing game a la GT4, PGR, Forza
- Make a controller that someone who isn't a smurf can use

Gamecube had none of these, so my expectations for these being corrected with the revolution are low.

... For some

I guess you just mean non EA titles that you want. EA dominate just like on PC cause they churn them out year after year. I'll agree with your point on racing only because I loved GT. Nintendo had Burnout and Need for speed titles, also good racers like FZero but they don't have a GT or Forza (this im guessing is an 'A' Title as never played it). I'm guessing here you're an XBox player? I personally think the Cube and PS2 controllers fit perfectly, as did the SNES, NES, PSX, Megadrive etc, and I think the xbox and dreamcast controllers were too cumbersome to use hours on end, and I'm not alone in my thinking. I'm not saying I'm right or wrong, but just that there are two sides to the story.

I actually preferred the GameCube, Metroid Prime was awesome, Zelda Windwaker was great, didn't like Mario Sunshine though. But the best part of the Gamecube were the 4 player games like Mario Party, much more fun playing with friends on games like that than any single player game can provide for me. It also didn't hurt to have the imported games like Naruto. Resident Evil 4 was great as well. But in a sense did the mod community actually help PS2 & Xbox hardware sales, with all the modding on those two? The modding on the gamecube is nowhere near the other two, could that have inadvertenly hurt sales?

Look at that list, those games are horrid.

No decent non-EA football, basketball, or hockey games past NFL2k3. I don't really care for the arcade-sports genre either.
As for the controller, I really liked the original Xbox controller; the S-controller was still decent, and the PSX/PS2 controllers are tolerable. The Gamecube controller always felt too small to be confortable my hands, I have big hands though.

Sports games didn't sell well at all on the Gamecube. They sold so badly that Sega stopped putting sports games out for it.

What would be better, the 3-cored Xbox 3.2ghz or the 4-cored Nintendo 2.5ghz?
I think that the Revolution's specs are better than the Xbox 360.
The Xbox 360 with 3 core 3.2ghz and single core ATI RN520 chip vs Revolutions 4 core 2.5 ghz dual core ATI RN520.

I mean, if your max resolution is 1280x720 (or something similar for HDTV type games) it seems that nintendo's offering would be able to provide more effects (aa, flares, etc) at that resolution than microsofts setup.

Irregardless, I don't think the graphic differences between the two is going to be like a gameboy color vs a gameboy advance.

I believe so. Of my friends that own a PS2, over 1/2 of them, maybe almost 3/4 even have their system modded. And like 5 of them had to buy new PS2 for mods gone wrong. I wouldn't be surprised if at least 10% of PS2 HW sales are just replacements for dead PS2.

Yeah and the Xbox 360 will have a year advantage. The mid 2006 launch is the Japanese launch. Both Nintendo and Sony will be having american launches in late 2006. MS is launching in 2005. Both Sony and Nintendo will have marginally better consoles hardware wise. MS will have a larger library. They wont screw the pooch like Sony, even if Sony did successfully brainwash people. MS will have second generation games, that will blow Sony and Nintendos first generation games out of the water.

Also

MS IBM CPUs != Nintnedos IBM CPUs
MS ATI GPU != Nintendos ATI GPU

Theres are custom parts for both companies...

Errr....Xbox Live will have been around for over 3 years by the time the Revolution comes out. Nintendo has zero experience in handling online gaming. I'm guessing they'll try to come up with differentiating features but Live! is by far the more mature and proven product.

And how can you say it looks to be the best one this time around when you don't know the system specs, you don't know the launch games, and you nothing about the online services for both the Revolution and the PS3. Jumping the gun a bit aren't we?

They're going to bring back "The Glove." LOL Honestly, I am looking forward to the Revolution and PS3. XBOX never really did it for me. Sure they have online capabilities but they had mediocre games, with the exception of a few. And this new XBOX 360 doesn't look like much, especially the weak game line up. The new Zelda videos for Nintendo looks amazing. I hope they bring out more quality games 'cause these kiddy games aren't hacking it. RE4 was worth it though.
