No suprise the DS is selling so damn well.

everyone in house has one (over the age of 4 heh). the family across the street has 5 of them (6 kids in the family) and another family i know has 3 of them also.

We got a wii on black friday. we still play it a LOT. every weekend we play some and lots of times we have company over to play it. I really want a good golf, fishing, bowling game to come out.

No wonder price cut rumors are flying all over the web.

Don't expect April to be much better. Probably May too. The PS3 game releases have been weak.

Wii is a fun system but there aren't really a whole lot of good games for it yet, when some of the bigger titles come out the Wii will sell quite a bit better.

At this point and seeing the sales of the PS2 as big as they are, maybe, just maybe, Sony should push for more games made for the PS2 again, and go after the Wii. They are close in the terms of graphics I think, maybe give the PS2 a better face lift, a funky controller, some weird ass games, and go after the Wii market.
The PS2 was the weakest of the 3 last-gen consoles. It was behind the GC, never mind the Wii.

In terms of what? For the last gen consoles, ps2 was among the strongest.

PS3 on life support? I think it's selling pretty well based on the low amount of exclusive games (or many good games for that matter), and that it's only been out for a few months. When the big games roll around, I don't think the PS3 will be having problems.

I believe in terms of graphics capabilities, it was behind the GC and XBOX. Keep in mind that means raw power; developers were still able to do amazing things with the PS2 because it was the #1 system for so long.

Still don't get why the PS2 is selling so well here in North America. PS2 sales in Japan are far lower. The Wii itself is outselling the rest of the non-Nintendo consoles combined. While the DSL is doubling Wii sales. So Nintendo is totally dominating in Japan currently.

Nintendo just needs to get them on the damn shelves.

Their numbers would be far more amazing if they werent sold out the second they hit the shelf.

Mario Party 8 comes out soon, thats gonna be a sweet game with the new controllers.

Weren't PS3 sales in Japan down to 15K a week before this? That's a 60% increase.

Not that the wii isn't peeing all over Sony.

The newest data is for 2 weeks. Divide by two, and Sony is eeking out under 13,000 per week.

D'oh, missed that.

So it's 15K then 11K for the 2 weeks, and -4K is not quite as much of an increase as I thought :)

It will be interesting to see if the US NPD numbers for April fall below 100K.

probably not because the wii supplies are sold out as is... which is sad because Nintendo isn't ramping up production when their best titles are coming out. I'm still waiting on getting one.

The 360 is selling better than the PS3 in Japan? That's embarrassing, considering how poor the 360 has been doing over there.

No, the PS3 is selling 4:1 over the 360; where did you see something to the contrary?

Doh, I'm an idiot. I was looking at the US data. The 360 is abysmal over there, and actually not doing that great here in the US either. I certainly won't buy one until there's a price drop, and they fix the console so they don't break so easily.

Sony PSP - 69,032
Sony PS2 - 27,399
Sony PS3 - 25,765
XBOX 360 - 6,367

Sales lead for the Wii is around 8:1 now. The DS Lite is on pace to sell a million units in one month; unbelievable. PS3 sales are stagnant.

------------------------------------------------

March 26th - April 22nd 2007 Japan Sales

Nintendo DS - 496,426
Nintendo Wii - 257,620
Sony PSP - 124,889
Sony PS2 - 56,291
Sony PS3 - 54,357
XBOX 360 - 12,059

Keep in mind that the price for the PS3 in Japan is the lowest anywhere in the world (almost half what the Europeans pay). The month began with a 4:1 sales lead by the Wii over the PS3; the latest week, the Wii outsold the PS3 7:1. Microsoft is a non-factor, and the PS2 is still somewhat popular (although the Japanese have largely abandoned it unlike the US).
