Ironic coming from the company that has been rehashing the same Pokemon game since 1996.
And yet people buy the new game. On launch day. And a new handheld to play it. Including me. *sigh*
Aren't those RPGs? Then they can be completely different. Its like calling each book of a series like Harry Potter "cookie cutter".
Single player story games in the same universe can be the same game but be entirely new content/story/chapter/etc.
When the point of the game is only simply running in circles killing people online and nothing else, there is only so much you can do with new levels and models, its still the same game, just shinier.
