According to Wikipedia Nintendo has 1.3-1.4 trillion in assets, while Microsoft has 170 billion.
So in theory couldn't Nintendo afford to build a super mega powerful console? They could take a loss on hardware and recoup in software, everybody would buy a powerful new Nintendo system.
And I believe the CPU they should use is a PowerPC similar to the one in WiiU but instead, double the clock speed and core count. This would enable them to do tick-tock emulation ridiculously easily for everything since Gamecube. They could even continue to develop games for the WiiU while developing games for the new system, and just have them be 720p/30 on the Wiiu and 1080p/60 on the new system.
