Nintendo e-reader programming?

Anybody know anything about the Nintendo e-Reader? Seems like it would be a pretty cool technology if you could write your own apps for it and print your own cards.

I guess Nintendo has to be secretive with the spec so that people can't just go willy nilly photocopying games and cards, but OTOH it would be really cool to make more card games not unlike Mario Party-e that are played on the table but also incorporate the e-reader aspect.

My bro and I were talking about how if it was a more widely-used tech, you could dot-code your resume right on to a business card...it would be nifty.

Dont' they already have those small CD-ROM but business size business cards? All the info is on top, and its in the form of a business card but you can pop it into the CD rom and have your resume on it.

Have you seen an e-Reader card? The dot code is WAY to complex and detailed for any consumer technology to reproduce. Hell, most photography magazines are printed with incapable reproduction techniques. I doubt we will ever see pirated cards from Hong Kong (Poor manual / label quality is usually a fine indicator of a pirated product). 😉 The profit margin may be small on normal cards, but if they could reproduce "one of a kind" or "extremely rare" cards then I'm sure they would.

Interfacing with the optical sensor to "scan" cards downloaded from the Internet sounds more feasible. EVERYONE could have that rare or unique item it unlocks...
