Nintendo DS top screen problem

My NDS top screen has a problem that's probably very common, but I couldn't find any videos of it through youtube or google search.

Anyway, the top screen doesn't show a clear picture, it's very fuzzy/faded and only bits of the picture is shown with the rest being white.

If I swivel the top screen to one very specific position, the screen returns to normal picture/color. But once it moves out of that position, even just a small amount, the screen returns to the white/faded picture.

I'm guessing it is the flat wire ribbon cable that is being worn down, but I'm not 100% sure.

I plan on ordering a nintendo screwdriver so I can open it up, but do you think I need to replace the whole top LCD screen or just get a new ribbon cable? The rest of the DS works fine.

Thanks.

As far as I know (I could be wrong) the ribbon cable is attached to the screen (with the other end detaching from the mainboard.)

So I would have to replace the entire LCD screen then right?

Guess I should start looking for replacement parts.

Thanks.
