Nintendo DS lite question

I've been more and more intrigued about this since i started reading yesterday...

With the wifi enabled games (such as mario kart), can you hop online w/ it and find people to play? or can you only connect to specific people? (i.e. people that know your address or whatnot)

Anybody. You can connect to random matches or specific people using the DS's "Mac address." DS connects to your wireless router.

Animal Crossing doesn't allow you to play a random person. You have to have a friend-code entered and saved. It kinda sucks.
