So DS Lite was released in Japan yesterday and of course sold out all over the country. After reading about a hands-on impression from one in Japan and seeing more pictures of it, I really hope they bring it to the US. It would go great next to my ipod :D

If you don't already own a DS, or even if you do I guess, does the Lite offer enough features to make you want it over a PSP or even an older DS? I know I would get one if they decide to bring it to the US! COME ON NINTENDO

Liberty same-thing-as-past-three-games City or wifi Mario Kart, Metroid prime and regular kirby, advance wars, electroplankton?

I want one bad, I had one preordered at $170 import but they raised the price to 199 on me, so I'm going to wait for the U.S. version now.

I'll probably be picking one up when they are released here. Portable metroid would be cool :)

it's slightly smaller than a normal ds and has a brighter screen. They also moved the power button I think.

rumor is that it'll launch in the US in may, sometime around E3. I don't have a ds yet but by then it'll have metroid prime and the new mario bros, so I'll probably get a lite.

Yep and also can't forget about the web browser and tv tuner feature. They'll have too.

I own a DS. I chose it over the PSP because of better hardware and games that made more sense, and price. Better hardware in terms of: Faster loading and MUCH less LCD ghosting. Games made more sense because they were made for the DS. It's not like the PSP where it tries to emulate the PS2 with it's games. The DS has games that are made specifically for it, and I'm not talking about the touch screen crap. I don't buy into that gimmick. And finally, it's much cheaper. For the price of a PSP, you can get a DS and a few games to enjoy.

If the DS lite was cheap enough, I'd get one. If you don't have a DS and are considering purchasing one, definitely get the lite version. The improvement alone to the bottom screen is worth it. In the original DS, the touch sensor pad over the screen makes whites seem yellow (you'll notice a big difference, especially in Sonic Rush) and the picture is grainier, which is annoying. I dislike playing on the bottom screen.

yea i see the point for small children i guess. if i were a parent there would be no way i'd spend the $$ on a psp for a kid.
but neither really interests me enough to buy. i don't know when i'd bother playing with it... only poo once a day after all and not all that long either.

I wish Nintendo had some sort of Trade-In deal for people who already own previous models of their systems...

How many times must they redesign their systems! :(

There is not going to be a TV tuner feature. That feature is for japan only because it is a technology that is only used in japan.

Yeah, I'm going to pick it up if they send it over. I was a dumbass and bought one of the original imported gameboy advance's and then when they introduced the SP, I had to go out and buy it too. Although I did have my gameboy advance for 2 months before the U.S. release, so that was kinda cool. If they keep the price around $150, I'll get it the week it hits stores.
