Nintendo addressing its strategy

I can...but then I don't buy expensive systems for 1 or 2 games. A system actually needs a library of games before dropping cash. Paying $350-$600 for 1-2 games that I'm (yes, me) interested in, does not budge me. There are plenty of people who feel the same way.

The real question is, if people love 1st party Nintendo games so much - why did millions of them buy Xbox 1 and PS4 when they have practically no games that are any better than what Nintendo offers and just as few of them yet those systems cost 2x as much? The answer: Potential. People don't see it in the Wii-U

What about all the exclusives that never come to PC and aren't made by Nintendo? You can ignore them as if they don't exist? I don't believe that myself. I mean there's a ton of studios making games for both the XB1 and PS4 and we've seen some of them. There's quite a lot of them that aren't shooters either. Many of them will never appear on PC and Nintendo won't get them either. I know what you're saying, but if I had to guess I'd say there was more people eyeing the upcoming PS4 and XB1 titles than WiiU. Part of that is the hype of the new systems but a lot of it is past experience with Sony and MS systems and developer studios.

I don't really know of any exclusives on the PS4 or XBOne that interest me. At least, not yet.

PS4 I could see getting Japanese games like Deep Down (which could suck due to F2P), Persona 6 in 5 or so years, or Demons Souls 2 if they ever get around to making it.

PS3 had some exclusives I enjoyed, but they were nearly all third party so it's impossible to say what system they'll make games on in the future.

Xbox 360 had no exclusives I enjoyed, really.

That said, I find that PC/PS4/XBOne all provide a similar FEELING of gaming (minus indie PC games), while Nintendo provides a totally different experience that I can't find elsewhere.

That's very true...there's a lot shown of the future potential of the PS4 and XB1. What we have now is going to look pretty bad when compared to Next Year's titles and then the ones after that. We've seen glimpses of what can be done with it. Nintendo simply hasn't shown us anything new. Prettier Mario Kart and Smash Bros might be ok for some, but it's not selling the hardware.

Dark Souls 2 is announced but it's not exclusive, and when's Persona 5? You skipped 5 and went to 6? j/k. Persona 5 may be on PS3 though given their track record of releasing 4 on PS2 when the PS3 was out for 2 years (I think) at that point. If that's the case I'll have to borrow the PS3 back from my sister to play it.

I said Demons Souls 2, since Sony owns the IP. I am hoping that they are secretly working on it.

Also Persona 5 was already announced for PS3, so I skipped to Persona 6.

What's the difference? I thought one was kind of a spiritual successor to the other made by the same developer.

Anyway...the numbers are in and more people want XB1 and PS4 than WiiU right now. Some change is needed.

Yeah, thats basically it. Dark Souls is a spiritual successor to Demons Souls because Sony owns the Demons Souls IP and From Software wanted to go multiplatform.

True, Nintendo needs to make their venture profitable in order to stay alive. However, the only thing they could do that I would care about is produce more quality exclusives, as that is all I'll buy on the Wii U.

But then again, they already have my money. I'm not who they are after 😉

I had a WiiU and sold it to find my XB1. I'd gladly buy another but they have to give me a new Zelda or a 3D Mario.

All their potential and glory lays completely in their first party titles. That's all anyone actually cares about. They would profit the most if they focus on making games and put it out there for all the hardware platforms they can or what ever type of devices where each is relevant. That eases the stress of competing with expensive hardware. Sega did themselves a favor by doing that, however they just aren't really that great at making use of their first party library.

And they're not releasing DLC for Batman Arkham Origins for WiiU because of low demand. Even refunded people their money that bought the Season Pass. Sad thing is, this isn't abnormal for WiiU versions of a game.

This brings a chicken and egg scenario for third party games. You have them not caring first about their releases to Nintendo platforms or you have gamers not caring anyways upon the system (because of technical numbers that may not be of any more significance in enjoyment).

Then there is the fact that Nintendo is setting up a barrier in competition. Third parties would see their games overshadowed by Nintendo's releases. But Nintendo cannot bring their game (pun) down to just make third parties stand out, because that is a losing situation for everyone.

Still, I have a Wii U, not going to part with it, and would look forward to things that would entice me and maybe unique (multiplatform games already have my vote with the PC in performance, HTPC, and control).

Good. Marketing is their main problem. The machine has a far more compelling library of both current and announced titles than the ps4 and xbone, it's just that people don't know that.
I'm familiar with the Wii U. I just don't want one at all. Marketing is only one problem, the other is that system just doesn't have much going for it.

I am pretty sure FROM has no desire to revive the Demon's Souls franchise. Even Dark Souls 2 is a completely new story, area, etc and a sequel in name only IIRC.

I know FROM has talked about reviving the King's Field series though. I don't know if that is owned by Sony.
