In the current gen Ninja Gaiden games, I was wondering about something. All the guides I read say to keep unleashing your ultimate technique to wipe the floor with enemies, but doesn't that consume all the available essence? If so, how do you get your weapons maxed out at Muramasa's shop? Thanks.

I "think" you still get the cash for picking them up even if you use it to power a UT. Although I used UT's so rarely, even in NGB.

Wow. Care to tell how you won fights easily, apart from possibly being a real life ninja?

Block. Seriously - people sometimes forget to do it. But the trick is to block and then attack. People get impatient and assume that, hey, I'm a freaking bad-ass ninja, I should rip through these guys. That's not how the series works... pretty much anyone can kill you if you're not being careful.

Of course, then there's the upper-tier of NG players who can just steam-roll through anything... watch a speed-run sometime.

Yeah, I always wanted to block but either forgot to or my reflexes were lacking. Then later in the game, if you block too long, some enemies can do seriously nasty damage to you with some kind of counter. I might be remembering wrong though.

Definitely true. You block then attack. You sure as hell do not block and then block. Block and then roll has its charms, of course. :) Whatever you're doing in NG, you've got to have the next step in mind.

Blocking is good, dodging is also good. Wait for them to attack, then dodge behind them and attack. Counter attacks, when timed well, work as well.

I'm certianly no uber player, I never tried NGB on anything higher than the first difficulty (although I could probably beat it on a harder one), but it's not too terribly difficult w/o ultimates.

And really you don't need to upgrade all your weapons, there's really only one or two that have alot of use near the end of the game (Dragon Sword which gets automatically upgraded to lvl 4, and the giant sword IMHO). Never was much good with Lunar.

Wait, what? lol, the only reason I ever died in Ninja Gaiden was because I was being super impatient. (I got impatient really fast) You cannot steam roll bosses, unfortunately. >_< I'd always die to them because I'd go after them like any other guy. Can't do that, apparently... :p

Game was easy, IMO.

You are quite certainly in the upper 1% of gamers, then, as the game is _infamously_ hard. I'm not going to call you a liar, but I also find it _very_ hard to believe you just jumped into the game cold and went boss to boss to boss. Maybe you should give NGB a whirl for the added difficulties.

the original NES ninja gaidens were so impossible!

NES Ninja Gaiden was the reason NES controllers were built like bricks.

Roffles! I never played the original NG but I too would have probably used the controller as a Shuriken.

Yeah, the game certainly wasn't easy, although I will say I really enjoyed the difficulty of NG/NGB. In NG2 I feel like it's just cheap half the time.
