As previously reported, UK’s Q Magazine has assembled a massive U2 tribute album to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the band’s landmark album Achtung Baby. The compilation, titled AHK-toong BAY-bi Covered, features covers of Achtung Baby tracks by a number of music heavyweights, including Jack White, Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, The Killers, and more.

So far, we’ve already heard of covers of “Love Is Blindness” by White, “One” by Damien Rice, and “Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses” by Garbage. Now, with the compilation officially hitting shelves today, a number of other tracks have surfaced, including Nine Inch Nails’ take of “Zoo Station”, Depeche Mode’s renedition of “So Cruel”, and The Killers’ cover of “Ultraviolet (Light My Way)”. Check out streams of all three tracks below.

No they aren't.

They're only problem is that they've been releasing, essentially, the same album from Joshua Tree on, with pretty much lesser versions of the same songs.

Achtung Baby was great, though--I guess their last good album.

I love NIN, I love U2, but I strangely dislike NIN's Zoo Station cover. It seems waaaaay too muted and subdued.

I am somewhat confused by your statement, but you partially clarify a bit. AB is almost nothing like Joshua Tree. But yeah, AB was the last release that was 100% excellent end to end. There are great tracks on the newer releases, but they're fewer and farther between. Irritatingly, the singles selected are invariably the worst things on the albums, starting with "Discothèque" on Pop, an otherwise stellar and interesting entry.

NIN also peaked around the same time, with The Downward Spiral, although I still grab everything of theirs (his) I can, and a lot of it is incredibly good.
 
I think he missed the mark on this one. It wasn't an epic improvement over the original (like say, "Afraid of Americans")
