I have a wife who is on the phone 24/7. I bought her a Panasonic 900Mhz DSS 2 line phone 6 or so months ago and it works great. It has a NiCd battery, 850mAh. She has this habit of talking until there is no more juice left in the battery (low battery alert starts beeping) and then just setting the phone down and switching to another one, without putting it on the charger for hours, sometimes even longer. This is bad for any battery, but especially NiCd's.

So, I am looking for a new battery and I notice that one of the Panasonic 2.1Ghz Phones has a 1500mAh NiMH battery. First off, almost double the capacity, second, it's NiMH and not NiCd.

Now I'm wondering what is different in how these to phones chargers work. Would they be compatible (i.e. can I get the larger capacity, almost same size battery for my phone)

thoughts??

They are not compatable charging wise. You should be able to swap the battery pack out withotu a problem tho. just make sure to use the correct charger.

I have always been told to run a NiCad all the way down to avoid producing a memory on the battery. What harm does it cause not to put it on the charger right away?
