NIMH batteries ROCK!!! How long do yours last?

I've been using a set of 4 Gold Peak 1800mah NIMH batteries in my Kodak DC120, and so far I've taken ~55 pics, most of them macro pics with the screen running for 5-20 seconds, and they've STILL got more power in them!
Way better than using alkalines.

I can agree fully with RossMan's suggestion of Rayovac batteries. Nothing but impressed with them. I have probably 20, and they all suit me well.

Ross, the same panasonic charger + battery set goes for $50 (CAD) @ futureshop, and I dont think it's a quick charger...is it?

I've seen his eBay auctions, he's out of Toronto, Canada right?

Nope the Panasonic isn't a quick charger which is it's major downfall and there's no conditioner, it's a 5 hour charger but considering it comes with 6 1600 mAH's and my digicam takes 2 AA's at a time. If I charge all 6 I have enough batteries for 3 sessions.
 
I just converted over to rechargables for everthing in the house. Initial cost was a kick in the pants, but it's so nice just going over to the recharger and picking a couple more out.

You know what I need to find is one of those battery holders to hang on the wall, right now all I have now is a big ole pile of batteries.

Mine took ~4 hours on the first charge....I didn't time the second set.
I bet your digicam eats those NIMH's though :Q
 
My Panasonic 1600mah's last for about 350 shots with the LCD off and about 100-200 (depending on frequency of use) with the LCD on.

I bought 8 NexCell NIMH cells from Thompson for my Nikon 990 CoolPix and the NIMH charger they recommended. Two cells have failed (they will not take a charge) in only six months. That would be less than six recharges since I don't use the camera that much. I will buy some other brand of NIMH cells the next time.

For what it is worth, the label on the charger is Energizer ACCU. It has four slots, charges batteries in pairs and handles either NiCad or NIMH -- you flip a switch to select the battery type
 
NiMH batteries will lose about 1% of their charge per day when stored. They are best suited for medium to high drain devices that get a lot of use. Unlike NiCad chemistry, they don't require a full discharge before charging. (otherwise known as reduced capacity from shallow discharge cycles--aka memory effect) Conditioners are nothing more than a charger that takes the battery down to its recommended full discharge level then recharges it. These were common with NiCad camcorder chargers. NiMH cells work great in cordless phones because you can use the phone and put it right back on the base and keep it charged without worrying about shallow discharge memory developing.

Lithium Ion has a higher watt density then any other chemistry that's practical but cannot be used in normal consumer devices for several reasons. First, they have a higher per cell voltage (3.0~3.2V). They also have very specific charging requirements. Charge them improperly and they can explode! Discharge them excessively and they are irreversibly damaged! LiIon tech is best left to manufacturers! :Q

I'm gonna be getting a Canon PowerShot S10 but without a battery.... is that DK110 rechargeable battery set good enough?? I've heard that the battery that comes with the S10 in other regions is extremely limited.
