Nikon Warranty Service

I'm fixin' to send in my 35mm f/1.8 for calibration under warranty. I have to set the focus fine-tune to -18. I never noticed any issue with my old D40 (which I sadly sold). I've also just purchased a refurbished 50 f/1.8 and am having to set it to -6. I've shot mostly with a Tamron 17-50, which I sent in for recalibration when I first got it since the focus was off. It has always been spot-on since and I don't seem to have any issues with my old F4 lenses, but neither of them would have very shallow depth of field (f/3.5 @ 28mm max, usually shot at f/4 - f/8).

I'm beginning to wonder if the D7000 might have an issue. Does anyone know how much it would cost to have the D7000 cleaned and calibrated? It was purchased refurbished and is out of warranty.

I wonder if the Tamron techs adjusted the 17-50 toward the near side of tolerance due to my description of the problem.

I currently have a local shop checking out my D7000 with my Nikon 80-200 f/2.8 and Sigma Macro 150mm f/2.8 for back focus issues when 10-15 feet range. I checked Nikon's website, they have a repair link there, also for in warranty and out of warranty. Mine is out of warranty and $224 was the quote.

I'm hoping it's just me or my lens(es) but it seems off, I focus on eye, so the hairs on eyes should be "sharp" but they're not but the hair a few inches behind are sharp. Lens is still under warranty, yeah for 5 year warranties. 🙂

Thanks, guys. I think I'll send, seperately, both lenses in with a general "check focus calibration" complaint and see what happens when they get back.
