I came across a Nikon lens and flash on craigslist I am supposed to buy tomorrow but wanted to see what Nikon owners thought. I will be buying strictly to resell, as I think it is a good deal. The lens is a Tokina 50-135 atx pro and the flash is an sb600. He was taking offers and I said 100 for the flash and 250 for the lens and he agreed. He said he didnt know anything about it and he bought them for his girlfriend but they broke up so he was getting rid of them. He said the lens was about 700 or so new and the flash around 400 when he bought them awhile ago

it's generally frowned upon to do price checks...
check ebay for lenses/flashes in comparable condition

the lens/flash are probably new in box or mint if unused
should be easy to resell for 2x that based on a quick search...

also this thread will probably be locked by a mod

It looks like the lens was discontinued but is pretty good from some reading, thanks

Sounds a little fishy to me. You are telling me he dropped $1100 for his gf, and since they broke up, he is just willing to take an $800 hit? If that is the case, then you are a lucky guy.

looks like a good deal to flip, the tokina goes for around ~$500 on ebay (completed auctions)

Im taking my niece's Nikon to test them out. I am supposed to meet him today about 5. He didnt know anything about them. I told him it was not normal for people who have this kind of equipment to not know anything about it and then that is when he said it was his gf's.

That's a great deal. So great that I'm willing to bet both items 'fell off the back of a truck' somewhere.

Think about it - I may not know an equipment, but if I bought it for $1100, I'd want to get back something close to that. Unless - see earlier statement.

Or maybe I did have a gf, and it belonged to her, and I want to sell it off quick just to spite her.

Either way, you will be laundering the money for him.

They're stolen.

Sorry to break it to you. If he paid $1200, he would be asking for too much, not too little.

But yeah, i guess if nobody finds out, eh?
