Nikon DRF rumors.

Google: Leica M8

My guess is Nikon has a full-frame DRF to deliver what Leica failed to do with the M8.

Lets just hope it doesn't have a Leica-sized price tag on it.

You don't have to worry on that account. Leica markets and sells products to rich amateurs that are part camera, part status symbol. Nikon sells workhorses.

I hope this is true.

I, too, really, really, really, really, and really hope this is true. As a person who always carries a rather chunky DSLR, DRF would be more like a dream come true.

did you see the price on the S3 2000 and the SP 2005?

i wouldn't be shocked if they did this, but i would be shocked if it was (relatively) inexpensive.

the other shocking rumor is leica turning to canon for DSLR tech.

now what would be really awesome is sony and zeiss teaming up on a couple new contax cameras, a digital N and a digital G..

actually, a digital hexar rf would be awesome.

that'd be pretty cool. my friend would love to hear this. I haven't really jumped on the RF boat... I tried an oly 35 SP, but don't particularly like it.

Ah, yes! A Digital Range Finder (DRF) camera. That is an interesting concept. Why not! I have a film RF that belonged to my dad - he bought it in Costa Rica in 1948 - a Leica III-C with an F2 Summitar lens. Complete with manual. If they made this in digital I think I would go for it. Compact, tight, great feel. The only big negative is that you have to trim the film leader with a special metal template to load the camera.

You're all heart, Fenix. Muchas gracias. 🙂 It will stay on the shelf in the living room with other objects of high sentimental value.
