I started a thread on the Rebel XT the other day for my sister-in-law. I got interested as well (I currently have a Canon A75), but after testing it out at a local store I decided it was too small and cramped for me. The D70 fit me the best. Is it worth investing in? The body is only a bit more than the Rebel.

I bought the D70s kit about a month ago. I too had looked at the Rebel XT and simply found it too small to be comfortable in my hands. I had then planned on getting the D50 body with the lens in the D70 kit, but it would have ended up costing me nearly the same amount as the D70s kit.

I've been very happy with it so far. I'm still getting used to it (I hadn't really done any serious shooting in a while), but the results so far have been good.
Sample photos I took in Las Vegas last week.

I've had a D70S for three days now. I love it, but now I have to send it in for repair. :(

Shutter problem apparently.

It worked great for ~150 pictures & now just goes to "Err" when I turn it on. Does the same thing with a fresh battery, no lens, and no CF card.

So off to Nikon it goes.

:(

Sucks that it's such a common problem with that camera and Nikon has yet to fix it.

ugh...I shouldnt have read this thread....convincing me that I should get the D50/70. I currently have an A95 with an intermittant e18 error so looking around. I have some old Nikkor lenses from a 35mm Nikon camera. I have been looking at the S3 IS online, but havent been able to physically compare it with the D50/70.

Where did all of you purchase your d70's from?

BGLOD. Nikon has already said they'll fix any D70's with it, regardless of warranty status.

I got mine from a local camera shop. Cost about the same as if I would have bought it online at B&H.
