I'm looking into buying the nikon d5000, but wondering which lens to buy along with it.

ATM the options are (danish prices):

18-55 AF-S DX ($915 kit) or
18 - 105 ED Nikon AF-S DX ($1050 kit)

a d5000 body is priced $840 without any lens

does anyone have any experience with these lenses and do you have any pro or con for these lenses?

I've heard that the 18-105 is not as sharp as the 18-55, though you might not care or even notice a difference. guess it depends if the extra zoom range is more important to you, or would you rather have a slightly sharper, lighter and smaller lens. I personally use the 18-55.

At that price why not buy a d90??

D90, body only, then go to B&H or Adoroma and buy good high quality used lens. Such as the Nikon 18-70 or an off brand 2.8 in the 18-50 range.

Does B&H ship to Denmark?

reviewing photozone's reviews of each lens it looks like optically they're a draw, so i'd go for the one with more range and VR.

if you mean the 18-55 VR i'd still take the longer lens based on slrgear.com's reviews. both have some CA issues and vignetting issues. the 18-105 has much worse distortion but the resolution is still good.

because the price of d90 is even higher in Denmark, we have 25% sales taxes and if I buy outside EU I would have to pay a high shipping + customs + get a limited warranty

they're both VR, so I guess I will go for the 18-105.

ah, danish prices. i too was about to say why not the d90 kit for ~1100usd.

i have the 18-105 on my d90 and its a good all purpose lens. mild distortion in the corners, and not the sharpest, but a decent lens overall. the VR is nice to have.

The most affordable lenses are

kit lens Nikon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G AF-S DX VR telephoto lens

Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED IF AF-S DX VR Zoom Nikkor Lens ($216.87 at amazon).

Both lenses are light and sharp with very useful VR (vibration reduction).
