A few years ago I had tried some software that allowed me to control the camera from my PC. I thought it was Nikon Camera Control but I was able to get a trial copy of it and it doesn't recognize my camera.

I see there is a Camera Control 2 but haven't tried that yet.

I also downloaded several other free applications that supposedly do the same thing but none of them but 1 so far has recognized my camera.

The software is Nikontrol 3k. The take photo button works but after taking like 2 photos with it, the button grays out and I can't use it any more.
Also, it has an option to set a path to download photos to but that doesn't work either. I can close the app and reload it and it will work again to take a few photos, but then the button grays out again. Also the path I set to save files is not saved either.

So is there any similar software that you know works with the D50?

Lightroom has built-in features for camera tethering through USB - not sure on D50 compatibility though

wow, what a hassle to get lightroom trial downloaded...
have to install Adobe's version of Steam....

and it doesn't detect the D50 nor the D200 I borrowed from my dad.
