Nikon D40 Deal from Amazon

Average deal, since the 55-200mm non-VR has dropped in price quite a bit since the VR version came out.

You're basically paying $400-$450 for a D40 kit, which is market value right now. Not a bad value, just not a 'hot deal'.

But then again, I have a pretty high standard for what I consider a hot deal.
 
Well, the lowest I've seen for a D40 kit is $449 with most places at the $479 mark.

The 55-200mm lens is about $150 give or take 10 bucks so you are paying about $400 for a D40 kit with market value at least $50 more expensive.

Moreover, many people in that thread have reported success at B&M stores in getting the 55-200mm w/ VR for $50 more. Considering a kit + 55-200mm w/ VR could run you $679 easy, it'd be nice to save that $80 so while it isn't hot enough for the hot deals section, I thought it was worth mentioning.
