Nikon D2x announced

PDF here

12.4MP, 5fps (or 8fps in cropped 6.?MP mode), lots of goodies. Only makes me wish I had US$4100. 😛

Non-PDF specs 🙂

Edit again: I'm seeing prices like in the US$3900 range. Hope it's true... 😕

Edit 2004-09-16: Looks like the price may be more around US$5000 🙁

now i just need to find 4000$
I sure hope it's around the US$4000 pricepoint, however that's just a number converted from Euros I saw in some thread at Photo.net. The actual price in the US could be higher, but definitely not lower. 😕

Not that I'd be able to afford it either way, but whatever. 🙁

any new lenses? I heard they might come out with a 70-300 VR?

theres a new 300mm f/2.8 AF-S VR comming out replaceing the 300mm f.2.8 non vr

the 200mm f/2 was announced earlier in the summer as well as the

200-400mm f/4G IF-ED AF-S VR

no 70-300 VR yet but people who speculaiate say it will be a 70-300 f/4 VR, which would kick total ass, the 70-300 f/4.5-4.5 ED is nice but just to slow

ProviaFan: the thread going on Dpreview in the D70 forum puts the price around 4099 euros and it will be cheaper in the US because it always is because we dont have a value added tax

30.000 Danish Kroner - wow, that's US$4935. BUT that's included the insane customs and VAT (25%) in Denmark - so the price in the US would probably be around $3500 (?)

For comparison, the D70 is US$1975 here in Denmark(!)

so does this mean I should wait for the D70 to drop in price?

that most likely wont happen anytime soon sadly, the D2X wont have any impact on it seeing as its in another league all together

when and if a D200 is released you will see D70 prices drop, but seeing as they are selling tens of thousands of them a month they price will stay constant

Not to mention that current rumors say that the D200 (or whatever it will be called) won't be announced until PMA next year. However, other rumors say that another DSLR and the F6 (which won't have interchangeable digital backs, sadly) have yet to be revealed for Photokina, so who knows?

someone on Dpreview said the F6 was announced or was actually confirmed to be comming anyway ill have to go back and look - I dont currently see whats wrong with the F5, its too much camera for most people anyway

and when you say next year do you mean Feb or Sept of 2005?
