They are both good cameras and it greatly depends on the lenses that you all ready have.
D200 is the better camera if you are starting out fresh.
Personaly I would buy an older generation DSLR camera and spend the saving on quality lenses, because camera bodies dated and are better every generation while quality lenses doesn't get much better than the current level (lenses hasn't improve much in the last 25 years).
