I have Coolpix 995 but whenever I want to take a picture on the dark light, the result is very disappointing (it's really dark almost could not see anything in the picture) even though I use the flash already. Anybody have any suggestion the setting I should use ? or is there something wrong with my camera ?

Thanks

well, the flash that is built-in is very weak. have you tried it with different aperature and shutter settings?

The built in flash on most digital cams is weak and tends to not disperse and instead target stright ahead of it. From everything I've heard, the 995 isn't a very good indoor camera, although I've seen the results from outdoors and they are very nice.

As the previous replier said, try decreasing your shutter speed, that will at least help and get rid of some of the blurriness cause in low light situations.

The problem is not the blurry .. but the picture taken is really dark almost could not see anything when I take a picture in front of the Santa Monica Palace at night time, I barely see the light..I've tried different aperture and shutter
I want to be able to take a picture like this : Nightshot with Coolpix 995
with my Coolpix 995. If anybody have the suggestion ??? I really appreciate it.

Thanks

From your description there is nothing wrong with your camera. The 995 is a wonderful camera. A flash has a very limited light output. It is adequate to illuminate across a small room and fills in the lighting say for a picture of people at a party where the light is too poor for available light photography. Haven't you ever noticed all of the people flashing when taking pictures at sporting events and concerts. Absolutely a waste of time. Whatever they are photographing on the stage or floor gets no measurable light from the flash. The photo example you show was taken by available light -- strret lights, bridge lights and city air glow -- not flash. Try taking a flash photo of someone six or ten feet from you in a poorly lit room. You should get a good photo. If you do, your camera is fine. You are just trying to use a flash where a flash is not effective.
