I've been looking at the after XMas toy sales and this seems to be about the best deal for those that didn't get that RC Truck they wanted :) Original price was $99.99 and it has pretty good reviews. There are some $10 off for first time buyers floating around at the coupon sites.

Nikko Tacoma Truck at KBKids

EDIT: The link now says "Batteries not included".

We bought one of these for 39.99
Got it Friday afternoon.

We took it out of the box to wrap Sunday afternoon (4 P.M.)

It said on the box that YOU HAVE TO BUY YOUR OWN BATTERY PACK AND RECHARGER!

What a bummer!

After 45 minutes on KBkids phone ( now 4:45) they siad Yep! it says it comes with a battery pack and charger! Sorry! We can have one to you later this week!

That was not good enough! I had a kid that was expecting to play with this the very next morning (Christmas).

I got the rep's direct phone number and name ( Greg). I called KB toys and the two near our house said they would not help out (now it is 5:15, by the time we get off the phone!)

Called Greg again (LOng Distance, but he immediately picked up!)and explained the situation. He said to go buy one and then call him back and he would credit our account! YES!

I got to the mall at 5:45! Got the pack and charger and was back in my truck by 5:55!

OOPS, gotta get 9 v batteries. Flew to the Target store and got two two-packs of 9 volt batteries ($3.50 a pack!?!?!? OUCH!) (6:02!)

Oh well, got home and called Greg and decided to just let him send me another pack and charger. This way my son will have two battery packs for his RC.

Rating for Greg at KBKids: 100!
Rating for Grinch KBToys: -100,000,000 ad infinitum!

I swear the link originally said "with battery and charger". What a crock of hooey!! I did not order one myself. Notice how it doesn't even say what kind of battery you need, I know it did before.

BTW, Etoys.com has Nikko battery packs on sale, $15.00 for a 9.6v battery and charger (Is that what the Tacoma takes?). Go to their site and search for "Nikko".

Hey, speaking of RC's. Anyone know where we can get hold of Tamiya or Kyosho 1/10th scale RC's that aren't just kids toys?

I used to have a gas-powered Kyosho and a 9.6v battery-powered Tamiya (manta ray) RC back home and wanted to build another one here in TX but i couldn't find any in the Hobby shop's i've been too.

Haven't found one online either :(

My Dad is jealous of the NIKKO THOR I got last year. He might want this Tacoma, so he can race me. What size battery does this truck take?! 7.2 or 9.6???

TigerNY, new if possible.. most of the fun is into actually building it from scratch. Got any pix of what you got tho? You planning on selling it?

www.towerhobbies.com

That use to be a good place to get stuff on-line. I haven't checked them out in a long time, but they carry Kyosho and Tamiya. I have a Kyosho Optima Mid Turbo and an Ultima Pro. Boy, those are some old old RC cars.

I bought this tacoma truck for $29.95 last year from KB. It is not a $100 truck. The body is ultra thin and the motor is not very powerful. If you can get a Thor by Nikko go for it instead. They are around $80 with battery pack on egay. (approx $200 in Hobby shops oe Radio Shack sells a version for $199)

The 7.2 V lasts longer and the THOR is 4 whl drive. Add a Radio Shk $30 NiMH battery and it really kicks!

Good thing about the tacoma is that you can sell it on egay for about $25 if you do not like it.

The Thor is a keeper -- about 18" long, 12" tall, 10" wide.

I have the Thor and the Tacoma. The Thor is definitely the monster of these trucks with it's 4wheel drive and size and power. I love it. the Tacoma is lighter and smaller, not so much for off-road but more for street driving. It's fast because it is so light and can be fun on the street.

rootaxs: am actually thinking of restoring the porsche, but just don't have time so i might sell it. no pictures on hand

Yea towerhobbies.com is the best and cheapest you'll find for the gas powered stuff.... I bought a HPI Nitro RS4 2 Celica, it rocks. I wanna get a new exhaust and my transmission is kinda broken right now heh.
