Nike Quality.. Oxymoron?

Here are some shots of a relatively new pair of Nike shoes.

The problem is a De-laminating Sole

The heel also

here is a side shot that shows the shoe is not all that worn Side shot

and the
sole does not show much wear.

We sent these back to Nike because Mervyns would not help us.

Here is Nike's response.

Have others experienced this level of quality from Nike? Looks like it is acceptable for Nikes to fall apart.

I made a mistake of buying a pair of sunglasses from Nike with interchangeable lenses. Within a month, the frame just cracked in a place where there was absolutely no stress on it.

I was a student at a time, and a $100 sunglasses were a big deal to me. I treated them like my regular glasses - with utmost care to the plastic frame. It just snapped. Mailed it back to Nike, paid a hefty shipping/handling fee only to get a response "This is not a manufacturing fault, but for $25 we'll replace it for you". Paid $25 thinking I'll get a new frame - and a month later got back the same welded plastic crap.

I will never buy Nike again.

I got my $30 Vans from Dick's. I love skateboarding shoes, the stiffness is nice. I hate wearing floppy shoes. It's like having a really really thick, smelly callous on your foot.

I think Nike's shoes are a mixed bag quality-wise. I've had pairs that wore out in 6 months and other pairs that lasted me 3 years or more.

I was shocked at the response of the inspector. Looks like this is expected. BTW these are my sons shoes, not mine. I perfer Berkies!

everybody's feet are different. you cant say new balance had the best running shoes. for you that might be true, but not for people with different types of feet. nikes have been great for me, this is comming from a college runner. i have tried new blance and they hurt my feet so bad and they were also extremely heavy. my nikes are tanks and can take a pounding.

I got a pair of nikes recently as well, 2 months ago about... one of the lace gromets is busted and the sole is coming off. I'm gonna have to bring them back to finish line and have them hopefully let me return them...

new balance rocks. I used to buy Nikes till they fell apart like yours. I bought my first pair of new balance shoes about 2 years back and use them to play raquet sports, weight lifting...anything...even just to go out on jeans, and they are still perfectly fine. A bit worn, but holding together like the day I bought them.

Never going to Nike again. All marketing, no quality... kinda like Bose.

truthfully they can make all their $100 sneakers in the USA and with high quality. but they dont because they'd rather line their own pockets after paying kobe. their actual goal is to make sure the shoes wear out as soon as possible so that you have to buy new ones again. this is what i've learned after half a dozen (lackluster quality) nike pairs thru out childhood, and haven't bought anymore nike in like half a decade

For some reason they just have the best support. They provide good cusioning without being sloppy. They are like the BMW of shoes, good ride and handling 😀
I will stay away from Nike running shoes if that's how they treat their customers.

Seems like at least every other pair of Nike Airs I have owned have ended up with one sole deflating with no apparent damage. I don't buy anything but Asics and New Balance anymore

I was in a situation like yours and I sent mine back. They returned them to me saying they were improperly used. WTF?

Then again, I have another pair that's 4 years and going strong.

All I have are nikes...some are 7 years old and aside from being a little stained, they are perfect! Most all of them have also been thrown in the washer and are still in great shape...

That's funny, I've never had a problem with Nike. I have a ton of Nikes (10+) and I've sent back two or three pair and each time they were replaced with no problem. Hell, they even gave me retail price even. I didn't even pay retail for them. As for that "new" pair, looks like they're pretty beat to me.
