My 1st ever new PC is working very well. 1st I had problem with the zip drive....that got solved. Now since I bought the computer I haven't been able to use my CD burner. It is on my F: drive. I can see it on the bios + under my system folder. Why can't I use it ???? If I click on the F: drive icon uner "my computer" folder.I get the message "F:/ is not accessible"

I am using latest drivers from Ricoh. I am using Nero software. Two messages I got when I tried to burn a cd were " Sorry Nero does not have a suitable SCSI/ATAPI driver for this input device. Make sure you are using a CD rom drive as input device and check if you need to autodetect this drive first. "Nero does not support drag and drop of audio tracks for this input device. Please use the menu command save track instead"

PLEASE HELP !!! My computer details - Athlon 1.33GHZ MSI K7T turbo/r (RAID)

Primary Master - Toshiba DVD ROM ,Primary slave - NONE ,Secondary Master - Ricoh CD Burner ,Secondary slave - Iomega Zip

HD is on the promise controller thing........

Please I am desperate. I wanted to take it to the local shop. They said I have to leave the computer there for 7 days. No way . It's only 10 minute job for someone who knows what to do. The place I bought it from is not locally. So looks like I have to solve this problem alone.

"I am using latest drivers from Ricoh."

Not to be a jackass, but I wasn't aware CD burners needed drivers. Perhaps that is the problem. I had an old Ricoh IDE burner and I just hooked it up and ran.

Try to move the Zip to the 1st channel and see if it allows you to burn CD.

starvenger....I think I am the jack ass. I downloaded some kind of firmware update from the Ricoh site for MP7125A which is my burner. I guess it was not driver. Pardone my ignorance. The problem has nothing to do with this download as I downloaded this thing only today and I bought my computer last week.

This is what I downloaded - http://www.ricoh.co.jp/cd-r/e-/e_europe/cgi/version.html

I think the problem has something to do with....the raid/promise controller thing........actually I don't know what the problem is. How come my computer detects it but it is not accessible ??

OK now I changed channels _

Toshiba is the primary master, Zip is the primary slave.
Ricoh is secondary master alone now.
Still pressing the F: drive says ....not accessible.

I thought about putting the ricoh alone as the primary master and then the zip plus toshiba dvd together on the secondary channell. I could not as the the gap between the connectors on the IDE cable is less than the distance between the back of zip and dvd drives.

Now just to test I put the ricoh on the Primary master and dissconected the zip and dvd rom drive. Again clickin on E: drive under "my computer" folder.......it said E: not accessible.

What is going on ???????

Rllngthndrs Box - There is a disc in there!!! ............plus if there was no disc it should say "Please put in a disc etc" and not F: is not accessible.
No need to call names like DUMB etc............you are not obliged to write on this topic............if you do then be constructive rather than call names.
Thanks anyway

Darrin yes its a blank one in the CD burner. I bought it assembeled. It was not detecting zip either. I had to change things till it detected it. Now I have to get this burner working.
I am a British guy in a German speaking country. So I did not buy the computer locall.I bought it from a English guy few hours away from me.

I put a audio Cd in the Ricoh drive it is playing it now. No sound though as the sound cable is connected to my DVD rom drive. But atleast it is working.... a step in the right direction. So why can't I burn ???
Why do I get all the error messages that I previously mentioned ??

What kind of disk are you wanting to make? Are you wanting to copy a disk or make a compilation of music or what?

Well I will be burning my graphic/design files later on.....but right now I am trying to burn an audio CD just to see how this burner thing works.
I clicked on the audio cd icon and then opened a new compilation file. Every time I drag an audio file from the DVD rom drive to the Nero new file it gives me error message.
Great now I put an Audio CD in the DVD rom drive and when I click on it it says please insert a disc. There is an audio disc in there.
I GIVE UP.

If you are trying to copy a cd instead of selecting audio cd try selecting copy cd. Then make sure everything under copy options looks correct. Do not check on the fly. You want it to burn an image to the hard drive. Under read options I think default settings are ok. Under burn tab just check write. I don't do that simulation crap. Then click copy cd in the top right corner.
