I am looking to purchase a new router / modem combo. We currently rent one from our provider. With the research and reviews I’ve looked at I am interested in either the Nighthawk AC7000, or the Arris SBG8300. The Arris is 3.1 DOCSIS, vs the Nighthawks 3.0, as well as it having the 32x8 channel, to 24x8. Arris also has a 2yr warranty to Netgear’s 1. We have a 1500 sq foot home, and a 100mbps service. We run a PS4, streaming services, and phones and a computer. So is the more expensive Arris really worth getting over the Nighthawk? Thanks!

If you're on Comcast/Xfinity, in order to get Gigabit DOCSIS server, you need to have a DOCSIS 3.1 modem / Gateway. I would go with the DOCSIS 3.1 anyways, because it's newer.

I am unable to find an "Netgear AC7000" router, Gateway, or wifi client adapter.

They have an "R7000" ("AC1900") router (which is a router ONLY, and not DOCSIS-anything, because it's not a modem too), and an "A7000" AC wifi USB client adapter, but I don't see an AC7000 gateway when doing a web search.

Can you give us the actual model number?

Sorry, it was the Netgear Nighthawk AC1900, c7000-100nas, gateway. I guess I’m just curious with sized space, and only 100mbps service, it it truly worth getting the more expensive Arris? Thanks!

I don't have any direct experience with either, but if you're sure that you won't need to move to DOCSIS 3.1 any time soon, then I suppose going with the cheaper option would be OK. BTW, make sure that both of those are on your cable ISP's "Supported Hardware List".
