I dunno, I was addicted to Civ 3 from 2001 when it was realeased through the day civ 4 came out (conquests expansion) but civ 4...<ugh> it's not as fun, IMO. It looks pretty, but it's missing something.

I played Civ3 also, but I think I did the same thing to myself playing too much of it over a short period of time.

I'm not even really good at it either, just the process has gotten old now for me. My gf and I have a game about 2/3 done saved right now and I'm not really looking forward to finishing it.

It does, but having a black border around the image makes it look better. So when I have something that's not 16:9 I would have lighter portions around the image that doesn't take up the whole are.

Those also help with the distraction of seeing where the image ends and the wall begins.

Yeah, I've done that a couple times now and I've lost my desire to do it anymore. I should up the difficulty so it will be tougher, but I'm not so sure I want to get really good at Civ4 enough to spend so much time on it. I'm sure my PPD would drop off significantly, and we can't have that

Yeah, there's a bit of method.

I wasn't sure what kind of difference it was going to make, but it is a pretty big deal. It really helps things pop.

I'm going to look into working velvet borders in next year at the new apartment to catch the light better.

And of course there's 2.35:1 constant height that looks interesting

Too bad Star Trek is 4:3 or there wouldn't be a reason not to do it besides price
