I'm thinking there's a distributed computing option that might need to be in the works as well. Consider that you can be logged in from more than one location at once. Consider also that spyware is almost an expected evil on many people's computers. Why not do something useful?
Granted, this wouldn't preclude manual neffing, as that's part of the fun. Just think of it as doing more with less.
