I thought their scam was they they sent you a fake check, you cash it and ship item out. by the time bank realizes its fake and reverses the transaction, you've already sent out your item.

but paypal is a bit more secure since they arent allowed to reach into your bank acct and pull money out. so if scammer pays me, i transfer funds to my bank acct and leave paypal balance at 0, how are they scamming me?

selling my camera on CL and got a few destitute mothers who want to sent the camera to their son in west africa
Thanks for the reply but i am presently out of the state for now but i
want to buy the item now ,kindly reply back with your pay pal invoice
so that i can transfer the fund to your account i will send as a gift
to my fiance West Afica on an holiday, and if you don't have open it is easy to open just go to
www.paypal.com and get back with your newly open pay pal account
address,i will love to hear from you.

Oh is your son that nigerian prince I keep hearing so much about?

They use a scammed Paypal account to send you the funds and they get a camera out of it..is my first guess.

...uuuhhh... what do you mean "they aren't allowed to reach into your account and pull the money out"? Once the payment is determined to have come from a fraudulent source, paypal WILL come after you for that amount. If need be, they'll send it to collections and force you to pay it.

Paypal itself is also a scam, but that's not the subject of this thread......

spoofed mail that isn't really from paypal - you've got funds, etc etc, won't be released until recipient verifies shipment, etc etc.

Some will send you a spoofed email that looks like it came from Paypal with a receipt that looks genuine so you ship it.

Yeap, they're hoping you're stupid enough to just see the email and think "Sweet, I just got a payment" and send out your stuff without actually logging into your account to check your balance.
